Hi ,
Whilst I can see this is an old thread, the question doesn’t seem to be answered so I think this reply still has value.
Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborhood ( and Garden Warfare 2 for that matter) is listed as PEGI 7, which is a platform independndent rating. On top of this, Sony ps4 and possibly Microsoft xbox layer on their own parental guidance scheme, the PS4 uses what Sony call Levels
You can find out the level of a game once it is installed by highlighting it, pressing the options button on the controller and selecting Information. Both Battle for Neighborhood and GardenWarfare 2 are level 5 – in the text this is described as aligning to age 10. I assume this level is set by the game developer, but I might be wrong.
Clearly this doesn’t align to PEGI 7 as stated on the box.
This is what I did to get this game working using parental controls
Logged onto the PS4 as a parent:
Install the game
Launch the game. If this is the first time you have launched an EA game, you will be prompted to create an EA account – do this, and specify an email address for the registration. You can most likely specify the same username as the PSN account.
Remove any age related parental controls from your childs profile temporarily ( im not sure this is necessary, but this is what I did)
Hold down the PS button and log off the parent profile
Log on as your child:
Launch the game, as it is the childs first time launching an EA game, they will also be prompted to create an EA account
Create the account, again, I would copy paste the PSN username, and use the same email address as the parents registration to tell EA that this is a childs account (IMPORTANT - the PSN registration seems to pass through the PSN uses stated DoB, so EA knows that the user is a child already)
This should all go through fine, and without parental controls the child profile should be able to play the game without issue.
Check your email, you should have an email from EA asking you to verify your childs account registration. – approve the registration.
Hold down the PS button and log back on as the parent
Go back into settings > parental controls, set your childs profile to level 5 ( this is the best I can offer as we know that the game is a Level 5 parental control from the Information screen earlier)
Log off
Log back on as the child, make sure the game still launches ok
Its not perfect, but this does implement a level of parental control, as opposed to none.
Hope this helps,
