I think it's a good idea; it would be a way to spend our money in the game and get the Zen Garden achievement much faster.
I also believe it wouldn't affect the game since it's not a microtransaction; you pay with in-game currency.
There was another forum post I've contributed to from a month ago about the same thing. Cath (EA_Cath) was made aware of it and we haven't heard from anything about it, even with the release of the V1.5.1 patch.
