Why does the rating drop after a loss much more than increase After a win?

How much your rating increases by or drops by depends on the rating of the person you won/loss against. For example, if you have a 1200 rating and your opponent has a 900 rating, you won't win many points by beating them, but you may lose a lot because they are rated much lower than you. Alternatively, if you have the 900 and win against someone who is a 1200 rating, you will gain much more points. You would lose less if you lose against the higher rated opponent.
The best way to earn rating points is to win against opponents with a higher rating from yourself. You can manage which rating groups can join your table from the table host menu.
