I can't get either one of these games 'Merge & Farm Valley Merge', to load what can I do

  • Hello!  I understand that encountering white screens, blue screens and black screens can be quite concerning, so I’d like to provide you with a better understanding of the situation. These screens are usually caused by the device or browser, not the game itself.

Because we play on a browser‑based gaming site and our devices update every 2–4 weeks, it creates a constant balancing act. Updates can quietly change settings or configurations behind the scenes, and things like cookies, cache, browser versions, hardware acceleration, GPU drivers, and extensions all influence how a game loads and displays. Once you know what to look for, troubleshooting becomes easier.

What can cause a White Screen?

A white screen simply means your browser or device is confused. Our devices are keeping a "memory" of everything we do, think of it like one of those carbon copy receipts we use to get back in the day - there was a white copy, pink copy, yellow copy (or blue copy). Our devices are doing the same thing. The websites we visit are storing little pieces of the site on our devices to help pages load faster.

When Pogo or any website makes any kind of change on their end, whether that's a security update, a behind-the-scenes fix, or adding new features — those stored pieces on our device can become outdated or mismatched with the new updated version of the site. When that happens, our browser and device don’t know what to display, so they display a white screen instead.

The good news is that this doesn’t mean anything is broken. It simply means our device needs a quick refresh of that stored information so it can load the updated site correctly.

🦉 Remember that carbon copy I mentioned above? There are multiple ways to clean our devices from stored information. Staying current with device and browser updates is helpful as well. Updates can roll in at any time and often include improvements to graphics, performance, and page rendering, which can reduce display issues.

What can cause a Blue or Black Screen?

A blue or black screen inside the browser or game window means the game wasn’t able to render properly. It’s your device’s way of showing that the browser hit a graphics or loading error it couldn’t recover from in that moment, similar to the game “hitting a wall” and stopping.

Some of the most common causes include:

    • Incomplete System Updates: If a Windows update installed but didn’t fully finish, it can temporarily disrupt how games load.
    • Outdated Graphics Drivers: Graphics drivers tell your screen what to display. If they’re outdated, certain games may fail to render correctly. Modern drivers update every 2–4 weeks (and so do browsers).
    • Memory or Hardware strain: Older devices sometimes have RAM or components that are wearing down, which can cause blue or black screens when a game tries to load.
    • Too many programs running at once: Browser‑based games can be demanding. If the device is already under heavy load, the game may not launch properly.
    • Browser extensions conflicting with hardware acceleration: Extensions like ad blockers, privacy tools, or VPNs can interfere with how your browser processes graphics, leading to blank screens in certain games.
    • Windows 10 compatibility limitations: Windows 10 is now in extended support and no longer receives regular feature updates. Upgrading to Windows 11 is recommended for the best performance and compatibility with modern browser games.

To help you get back to playing as soon as possible, please take a moment to go through the steps in the Pogo Troubleshooting Guide and other system checks mentioned that often clear things up right away. If you’d like to explore further, there are also helpful videos and guides online that cover more advanced system cleaning and troubleshooting.
