Merge Game not accruing energy since update

Hi. I hope someone can help.  Recently my merge game updated itself and now it won’t refill any energy at all when the game is closed. It will refill one lightening bolt every 2 minutes only if the game is left open and the screen doesn’t time out. It does this on my iPad, my android phone and on my laptop.  I have cleared cache and rebooted as well as signed out and back in again. Thanks.
