Hello! I would like to answer some of your statements and concerns that I am sure many in our community may have.
"Pogo needs to consider that some of the people that play Pogo games are unable to upgrade their computers to Windows 11 due to the age of their computer, and they may not want to or be able to afford the purchase of a new computer. So, Pogo telling them to consider updating to Windows 11 isn't an option. People have budgets and money only goes so far."
I understand and sympathize with the financial reality that many players face, and that concern is completely valid. It is important to know that the decision to end Windows 10 was entirely Microsoft's decision for their devices. Pogo has absolutely no part in that choice.
🌵 EA/Pogo does not manufacture gaming consoles, computers, mobile devices, or any other hardware made by companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, Intel, AMD, Dell, and HP that have established rules, requirements, and support timelines that all must adhere to.
Windows 10 launched in 2015 with a 10‑year support commitment from Microsoft. When Windows 11 arrived in 2021, Microsoft gave users four additional years of notice before Windows 10 support ended in October 2025. Plus is offering an Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. *This wasn’t sudden, it was one of the most communicated technology transitions in recent history.
The Windows 10 → Windows 11 upgrade campaign unfolded as a multi‑year, multi‑phase effort by Microsoft, beginning in 2021 and intensifying sharply in 2024–2025 as the October 14, 2025, end‑of‑support deadline approached. This was amplified by major media outlets, consumer‑advocacy groups, and IT industry voices, all converging on one message stated by Microsoft: "While you could continue to use a PC running Windows 10, without continued software and security updates, your PC will be at a greater risk for viruses and malware. After this date, we recommend upgrading to a version of Windows that is still supported."
Why is there a shelf life or expiration date to technology?
Today more than ever, programs and systems are interconnected in ways they never were before, each requiring regular updates for optimization, security, and stability. Programs no longer operate in isolation the way they once did, they depend on a constantly changing network of services and technologies.
Browsers and devices are actively moving forward not backward, staying stagnant creates not only performance issues but security issues that affect everyone. Pogo is just one website - The real concern is everything else people use their computers for like email, banking, medical correspondence, taxes, insurance portals, government services, and any site that handles personal data.
When one piece of that chain stops receiving updates, it gradually falls out of step with everything around it, this is about security and general performance of our devices set by the manufactures. What is changing matters.
- Browsers are now optimized for Windows 11’s security model
- GPU drivers for Windows 10 are no longer being tuned for new features
- Windows 10’s kernel and graphics stack are frozen
- Newer browser technologies that modern games rely on may not work correctly.
- Security vulnerabilities in the OS can affect browser stability
💻 Whether a device is new or old, if it isn’t properly optimized, configured, and kept up to date, it will eventually run into performance issues. So, while Windows 10 may still power on, it’s already being phased out of modern technology.
And just like every operating system before it, Windows 11 will eventually be phased out too. That’s simply how the technology lifecycle works, systems evolve, support ends, and new technology will replace old.
It has been several weeks and there still isn't a fix for Farm Merge Valley fiasco with that faded wheat card that can't be merged with the other wheat cards, which apparently was caused by an update that Pogo implemented to that game. An update to that game which screwed up the game where wheat was only being produced. They fixed the game but didn't solve the faded wheat card issue. Pogo could have told everyone to dig up the faded wheat card and that Pogo could have found a way to send out a new wheat card so that the merge of three wheat cards could be completed. That wouldn't have been too hard. Still crickets from Pogo.
EA Community Manager EA_Lanna was in communication with you and others here > Farm Merge Valley - Blank Cards A player also stated, "I was able to delete it with the shovel." These cards are randomly given for free within the game, more will pop up. Please watch your other posting regarding this for any new developments.
....."which makes me question if they were ever beta tested before they were ever implemented."
Not all games available on Pogo are developed by Pogo itself. In order to provide us with a diverse selection of games, Pogo features titles created by other developers (the creator's name appears on the startup screen). Most gaming platforms host games by other developers, and they typically do not have access to the internal code due to the intellectual property rights held by the developer. It is reasonable to conclude that any issues that may occur would require a joint effort.
However, even daily testing by any company cannot make technology immune to obstacles. Technology never stands still, what works today may need adjusting tomorrow, this is the reality of modern technology.
Browsers and devices update, drivers change, security patches roll out, etc. Any of these changes can introduce a new conflict that wasn't present the previous day. No developer, regardless of their diligence, can test for issues that have yet to occur or resolve software that’s no longer supported.
Reporting issues, Troubleshooting and keeping our devices updated, clean and configured is how we keep up with that constant movement.
