Solitaire Home Story Stars keep being removed

I earn the stars and then they just disappear before I can even use them. Has happened multiple times since playing the game. Sometimes while still working on levels and then I am like yes enough to do an upgrade and they are all gone, or they are there when I am about to click off the game and then when i click back on they are gone. Getting kind of frustrating at this point.
