spam account warning

I got two identical spam messages in the Pogo email message area (not my regular email).  They said:

Dear Pogo User,

Your EA Account may be suspended or terminated as we see you are Interfering and disrupting your co-players. Thi3s includes disrupting the normal flow of game play on chat by using vulgar or har***ing language we have also received complaints against you for being abusive and excessive shouting. Moreover you have also threatened other players. We find that you are responsible for all these activities.

Therefore your EA Account will be suspended or terminated permanently due to the Violation of law, rule or regulation. If you find this message has been send to you in error then feel free to contact our customer service for more information at +1-323-739-7719.

Regards!

I checked the sender of the message; she is a club member since 2008 with a lot of earned badges, so I'm guessing her account was hacked.  I didn't want to put her name here so I'm leaving it out.  I checked around and couldn't find an email address to forward spam to. I did find an article about what to do if your account is suspended with a link to check your ban and suspension history.  Mine shows no history, as I expected.

I'm assuming this is spam.

  • @liz4cps was it a person named Banno38 I just received exact same message and consider it spam or hacked account.

No, it wasn't Banno38; it was a little similar, though; it was bonwm which looks like a legitimate account, so I'm thinking someone hacked it.  I also got another message, this time from P00G0-PIONT.  I'm pretty sure that is an account set up to spam other members as it was created in March 2023 and only has one badge.

Banno38 looks like a legitimate member; someone probably hacked her account.  She's been a member since Feb 2005 and has 5179 badges.

Ok, I looked all over for an email address so I could forward this message to Pogo, but found no spam email to use, like a lot of sites have.  I did just now find I can click on the vertical 3 dots just to the right of the name in the message (at least in a web browser) and that pops up an option to report the message and block the user.  Mind you, the name itself is not clickable and hardly anything else around the message is; smh.  I suppose the 3 dots are a very narrow hamburger popup...

  • I received three copies of the message with the same wording as above from Pogo-Legal which was created in June 2023 and has two badges.

The phone number appears to belong to a car dealer in Los Angeles.

  • I got the same message and called the number.  A woman told me that my account had to be deleted and asked for my password.  I hung up.

    Hello Everyone,

I wanted to drop in to share some information on account security and potential phishing. If you are speaking to someone you believe is not an EA employee, reviewing this information can help protect your account and privacy.

If you are interested in more information on Cyber Security, we also have an excellent post highlighting information for Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

    Cheers!

  • Yeah, I called the number and there was no answer.  An hour later I got a call from Los Angeles and I did not answer it.  She called back a few minutes later, so I answered it and I did not say anything.  She said she was going to suspended my account for not answering my phone. I said I believe POGO has been hacked and she hung up on me.  I blocked her on my inbox.
