I think the developers (and all EA staff in actuality) are incredibly incompetent and completely useless when it comes to providing decent customer service. Your guide (as per usual with your guides) provides practically no actual information to help me, I wish you'd just stop posting them.
My feeder city that I just created a week or so ago is the only one of my cities that has the service building upgrades and what a cess pool the developers have created. With this new city, I'm experiencing the game the same way a new player would experience the game and it's very frustrating to advance. These changes actually make the game more difficult and unattractive to new players.
I think the only way to improve it is to scrap the entire thing. What a complete waste of development time.
Things that contributed to how much of a disaster this roll out is going to be:
- Practically no forewarning from the developers before the first stages of the testing of the new features began. If players were given a heads up, they would know what surprises to expect.
- The setting of all service demand requirements for Water, Electric, Sewer, and Trash to 1 was a stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid idea. With the new system, service demand is based on how upgraded your residences are versus the old system of service demand being determined by building type. The developers gave no explanation for the setting of service demands to 1, and over the past few months, players have demolished excess service buildings. I was unsure of whether I should demolish the excess services or not, and since no guidance was issued by developers, I stupidly demolished my excess buildings to free up space. I even asked you [Edit - CM] if you could ask the developers to provide some sort of guidance, and I was ignored or my message was not seen / read.
- Instead of limiting the roll out to specific services at a time, the developers are instead going for the full kitchen sink and instead rolling out the services to groups of players.
- There clearly is no contingency plan in event the service upgrades have a huge bug. The developers appear to be reactionary to bugs instead of proactively testing prior to releasing updates. This is a development failure.
In my job, if any project of mine had the number of issues that have been caused by buggy updates, I would no longer have a job. I am astonished at how much poor quality app updates have been released by. I know that most development involves AI at this point, however, EA should still have safeguards and testing measures in places to ensure AI generated code is bug free.
