I expanded my storage to 240 and bought all available expansion slots, then continued expanding. It's a very good strategy, unfortunately most players don't know to try this when they are at level 10 -- after all, building up the city itself is so easy at that point -- and by the time they find out they should have done this, it's too late. Also, once they connect their game to Facebook or Google, they cannot start over and ever hope to connect to that same social media.

- Anonymous10 years agoYou,re right. I can not connect to my social media. I just like wasting my time building rather than playing other games. I deleted the game three times to figure it all out. So rather than continue to complain, which I did at first, I started over. Everyone must have enjoyed the beginning enough to take the time to rant when it becomes impossible to keep going. Complaining won,t change anything. EA isn,t responding. It was so frustrating to have spent hours on that first city ,to delete it. But now at least I can continue to play without the need of expansion items. And if you think those things are rare at levels 20-30, don't expect them to get easier to find at level 50. In fact all I ever see anymore is wood, iron and light bulbs. I only use the trade center for selling at this point. Good luck all

It would be better if you change global trade shopping like that you can buy stuff by 1. exampe i put 10 xxx to market and if some one want to buy it than after tap on it recive only one if he want more he can tap again. So players with slower devices or connection have chance too.
- Anonymous10 years agoHm, I'm at level 15 now and have about 82.000 sims in my town. Is it not too late to use your technique? And what should I do exactly?

The main thing is to stop adding and upgrading residential areas and focus on expansion items. By "expansion items" I mean those items needed to expand your City Storage, and the land areas of your game. Although still difficult to purchase sometimes, those expansion items are more plentiful in the Global HQ while you are at a lower level, and they become increasingly more rare as you increase your level, so don't. To make money for buying items from Global HQ, you just need to make and sell items yourself. I don't have the chart in front of me, but at any level, a person who wants to do this should craft the most complicated items available that others need in their own games. Anything from the first couple of stores should do nicely for this purpose -- be sure to mark them up to full price as you're just losing money if you discount them. Advertise something every five minutes -- don't pay extra to advertise more often -- and watch what sells and what is slow to sell. Keep making and selling the items that sell fast. Keep at least 10 slots in your City Storage open when you go looking for items to buy -- you never know when you will get lucky and manage to snag 10 of something you need in one sale -- and you don't want to get the opportunity just to find your City Storage is too full to make the purchase! At the end of any playing session, be sure to queue up a mix of materials in your factories so they are done and waiting for you when you play again.
Good luck!

Impossible to purchase expansion items (terrain, storage). They are always gone when reaching the friend city.
Really frustrating
- Anonymous10 years agoThanks for the advice. Ill stop adding and upgrading residential areas. I didnt know it gets increasingly more difficult to get those expansion item at higher levels.

One technique that may or may not help you is to watch for the expansion items and click on them when you see them. When you arrive in the city and it says "sold" over the item, refresh the other player's Trade Depot a few times. Some players will decide to sell off a bunch of items -- either to raise cash or to open up space -- and they will advertise the first item they sell. Often, they will sell similar items right after the one that was already sold when you arrived, and continuously refreshing their trade depot will let you get an unadvertised special!

- Anonymous10 years agoMost people on this thread are complaining about the global market and I agree that it is painful for so many reasons. For me I only buy stuff if I'm wanting something in a hurry for for cargo ship or cargo plane or to buy "special items" trying to buy special items is a lost cause as everyone wants those so they are gone by the time you get to the sellers place. I would like to suggest a few additions to the game Have a part of the market for trading like special items so you can trade a vu' battery for vu's glove or vu's button and the expansion items can also be traded 1:1 for other Items of the same type of expansion if it is only trading with other players. I can see how it would be better for players if this could allow trading with different types of special items but with all the options that would open up would likely reduce the number of items that get traded that way.
- Anonymous10 years agoI think the Global Trade Market needs two things in order to be much better: 1.) A "Trade for" feature when offering an item. 2.) A search function in the Market itself.
The "Trade for" feature would allow you to set what you want to receive from the trade. For example, if I had too much wood, but I needed more metal, I would be able to offer 10 wood for as much metal as I'd need, up to the point where the max value of metal being recieved met the maximum value of wood being offered (so that you wouldn't be able to trade 3 metal for 6 donuts, for example) and/or up to the point when the City Storage fills up. The Trade For... parameters could be applied to any commodities in the game, in addition to SimCash (up to 1 SimCash per 100 Simoleons of the item's value), as well as Simoleons, like it is now. You could also have several parameters, so that you could trade 8 chemicals for 5 metal and 3 wood, for example. And you'd only be able to set the Trade For... parameters as commodities you've already unlocked (so that a person that's level 7 wouldn't be able to ask for 3 watermelon, for example). So that's basically my idea for the Trade For... feature.
Now, my other suggestion is to implement a search feature into the Marketplace. That way, you could search for people with trade offers that match specific parameters. 4 minerals in exchange for 2 shovels, or 5 security cameras for up to 500 Simoleons, for example. This would make the trade offers available much more organized and helpful, and it would make the Marketplace as a whole far more useful.
These are just ideas, so if they were to be implemented, EA may change them a lot, very little, or not at all. I'd just love it so much if these two ideas were put into the game.
