SIMCITY 5 - PC LAG ISSUE

Lag has recently been attributed to an excess of tourism in a city. Try opening a new city as a test. If it's the same, then you may have a hardware issue.

How can it be hardware when it worked fine a few weeks ago? That's what I keep seeing, hardware, hardware hardware. But no one can tell me why it worked fine just 2 or 3 weeks ago. I've also seen people with computers more powerful than mine with the same problem. Suggests it isn't hardware but no one knows the answer.

It is unlikely to be hardware unless your PC has started having other troubles.

As dddibley mentions, there is an issue we are aware of where you have an excess of tourists or shoppers in your city and they won't leave your city which causes the game to run slowly. This is one of the issues being addressed in Update 6.0.

  My point exactly. Let's say there are 2 know possibilities for lag. Tourism and GPU performance. ( the OP has a good network connectiion)

  Since the tourism and GPU info weren't provided by the OP, we have to take a logical approach. If you start a new city, you eliminate tourism as a factor. You have to take up Gambling or add a Tourism module to City Hall to trigger the issue. That takes a while. Days, weeks.. ??

  If it runs fine without those, then there's a good chance that Tourism is the issue, otherwise it's the GPU.

  Just saying. IF..THEN..ELSE.

You guys forgot probably the most common issue.  Underperforming computer.  This issue happens in a beginning city and slows down over time as more power is required to keep the burgeoning city processing.

If the OP goes to the options menu and graphics settings and set everything to low/min/off

Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 for std monitor.  1280 x 720 for wide screen.

Lighting: Minimum

Textures: Low

Shadows: Off

Geometry: Low

Animation Detail: Low

Anti-Aliasing: [Unchecked]

Framerate Cap: Off

V-Sync: [unchecked]

This should remove all lag

If you can post what your computer's name and model number are, we can help you much better instead of guessing.?  i.e. Dell Inpiron 518

You're right. I only used the GPU reference to minimize the logic.

Resolving a "hardware lag" issue would be way more interesting, as you have shown. 🙂

So I have a Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB 1067 MHz RAM

I'm no techie, so I need to know what the problem is. I bought simcity and it runs fine except for tremendous lag.

Any suggestions? Please help ASAP!!

Exactly as the thread has resolved.  Set everything low/min/screen resolution low to make up for the bad GPU.

My computer is an acer computer, my thing is aswell as my game being really laggy I don't think I'm on the right server (Europe west1) I'm not sure of the make of my computer however I can say that my computer runs an fps game (teamfortress 2) very well. If the lag has something to do with my internet connection  it's bt broadband.

If any of what I've just said makes any sense and can help you with my lag problems please help

P.S. there's black pixels that run across my screen when I play simcity and there's a grid that runs across my city snd I can't get rid of it! Thanks again 🙂

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (I wrote this on another thread with the same issue...), but I recently reformatted my hard drive and Sim City's speed became MUCH faster.
