Depth to transition skating than initially thought. Don't change it please.
So I'm not much of a skater I've put my feet on a skateboard once or twice and always had an interest in the culture since I was younger. I enjoyed playing tony hawks underground and Matt Hoffman's BMX game. Also quite like riders Republic and steep. Never did play older skate titles though.
Initially, I thought the transition skating was really bad because of lack of momentum but since playing the game my YouTube algo has been hitting me with plenty of real life skate shorts and videos and I've been observing the type of momentum and, the necessary pushes to gain speed in bowl skating. It's made me realise the transition skating and the loss of speed is actually pretty realistic, and it's more about figuring out correct lines, like you would street skating, and making sure to land your airs cleanly to gain good momentum.
I initially thought there was a unrealistic gap between getting speed with extreme drops Vs more realistic. But you really can get some momentum, it's just more difficult and you have to play more realistically to achieve it. The skateparks in the map actually also encouraged this, you have to explore all the different parts of the bowl and then map out a path for you to get a good 'flow'. I imagine this is very similar to what skaters do in real life, because if you just drop in and get crazy air with no where to land you just lose the momentum. I think this is how it should be.
A game which offers a level of depth with game mechanics I'm all for, so this is just my feedback that I actually think the transition skating is really good. And the design of the parks feels like real skate parks in the way they've been thought out you really can think of dozens of different lines to try. I'll definitely be playing for foreseeable future and recording some of my transition lines!
I see every other post is complaining about the transition skating. However, I think some of these people have actually never tried to do the transition skating justice try it out for 10 minutes, or theyre too used to old skate games.
I think if there are changes to speed then it should be done very carefully, because it could become less realistic and make the people who like realistic skating just end up skating like people on huge drops. I just hope EA doesn't listen to every single haters opinion because I'm not sure if they really know what they're talking about, and I think there definitely is quality in the way it is now.
