Dying game….

I jumped into Skate 4 hoping for a skateboarding game. What I got instead feels like a fashion catalog with a skateboard cameo. The gameplay is fine, but the whole experience is so bland it is almost impressive, like the developers deliberately removed anything that resembles personality.

But the real star of the show is the wardrobe. Every clothing option looks like it was designed by a committee whose only reference for skate culture was a Pride parade and a Pinterest board. It is almost funny how hard the game pushes “Look how inclusive we are!!” every time you try to customize your skater. Subtlety is completely gone.

If the developers focused half as much on depth, mechanics, and actual skate culture as they did on adding dozens of rainbow themed crop tops, the game might have been something special. Instead, it feels less like Skate and more like a corporate diversity training session with ollies.

Maybe next time, dial back the forced messaging and put that energy into the gameplay.

It was a "bait and switch"... They used the Skate brand to get existing fans on board... Made a lot of promises, Than... Delivered nothing close to a sequel, and have basically ignored any criticism... It's a whole new game marketed towards a whole new audience... Existing fans don't seem to matter anymore...

  • You think the rainbow crop tops are bad? Waitll you see the big Pride flag ramp in season 2.

They're just full on pandering at this point...

They don't understand why they're losing touch with the fans, and are trying to appeal to the broadest audience possible...

Just keep making it more inclusive/family friendly to cast the biggest net, in hopes to reel in new players...

Bold move... Let's see how that plays out...
