Embarrassing content
I have been part of this game community for over two years now, participating since the PC and then console playtests. Yet, despite vast amounts of user feedback, the quality of in-game items remains stubbornly poor. The recent Valentine’s Day cosmetics, like too many in-game assets, are mawkish designs of shamefully low quality, sold at exorbitant prices.
Honestly, it’s embarrassing. I have friends that ask me what the game is like and whether I’d recommend it, and again - honestly? The answer is no. I have stuck with it as I have played every Skate since 1, giving the new title constructive feedback both here on the forums and on surveys, along with encouragement when things go right. But, it just doesn’t seem to be changing.
Full Circle/EA: if this game is in early development and this is indeed only the first iteration of what we can expect, you need to give us clearer development updates on what’s coming and what the target is. Right now, we only receive quarterly updates, and these only serve as teasers for planned content of a style and tone that has been widely panned by your actual playerbase.
For the ‘we hear you’ refrain to actually mean something, we need to see signs that you are actually listening. We need engagement that’s more than a weekly blog post about competitions and store updates, or vague roadmaps about incremental feature drip. We need to understand why the game looks and feels the way it does and why it differs so much from the 2022 teaser that everyone loved. What is your vision, and where do you see the title going?
A great deal of the anger around here is avoidable. Instead of relentless spin, you need to acknowledge player frustrations and be upfront about how you’re going to address them. Instead, all we are hearing is static.
