Expected more, but it's live service.
So for the PRO I'll start this off, the mechanics of skating in the entire franchise hasn't felt as smooth as this. It's the best it has been undoubtedly, from input of tricks to the ease of certain grinds it's never been this good. Even more so that that it's been rebuilt from the ground up from what I've been informed on due to being unable get it from the previous skate games/engines.
But that's about it. The downsides of the game is more to due with lack of content and pointless lootbox mechanics that come up pathetically short. The closest the game will get to hall of meat modes is the new "stunt" missions however it's left more to be desired, mostly that it feels like it's a regress of the actual hall of meat missions in previous entries. So far the closest to games of skate are the new "throwdown" vs mode but it's just a high point counter. This was present in other skate entries in the online mode but even still for the length of development to make this game for this was tragic.
The most this game has is 3 mission types. Collect bearings, stunts, and vert challenges. There is so much more to be expected and the fact it's also being drip fed over "seasons" essentially battle passes, is even worse. Early access was supposed to end on the the 16th of September for a full release game and it's still early access.
It's more worthwhile to play the previous entries to the series due to the fact they're actually complete games. Maybe it's an aspect of pessimism towards live service game modules but there is so so much more that should be present but the most part that is, is a fully functional shop to so spend actual money for things that such be present regardless. Again the previous entries offer this and a complete skating experience for a game.
I expected more but this is EA.
