Feature Suggestion: Statistic Tracking

TL;DR:
I created a Statistic Tracking concept that records performance across totals, personal bests and tricks. It expands on existing systems while taking inspiration from legacy titles.

Description:
Following up on my previous Leaderboards post, I mentioned a "Statistic Tracking" concept.

This concept expands on existing systems while taking inspiration from legacy titles. Instead of only relying on challenges, progression happens naturally through gameplay and personal expression. Every session contributes to something, allowing players to further build a relationship with their time invested.

It adds performance-based progression alongside objective-based progression.

How it works:

  • Automatically track stats during normal gameplay
  • Stats are categorized by:
    • Total - Time Played, Distance Traveled, Grab Time
    • Personal - Best Sequence, Longest Grind, Biggest Drop
    • Tricks - Tricks Performed (ie; Flip, Grind, Grab, etc.)
  • Each stat can optionally connect to "Friends" or "Leaderboards" for comparison.

Below is a quick mock-up animation showcasing the concept.

Note: The system could work similarly to how challenges track progress.

Why it's useful:

  • Adds long-term progression without new challenge systems
  • Rewards all playstyles, not just challenge completion
  • Gives players personal goals and identity
  • Sessions can feel meaningful even without rewards
  • Creates replay value through self-improvement and comparison

We still absolutely need that! This is what actually still brings me back to skate 3 and 2 OVER skate. it is just rewarding in a sence. You commented all the right things.

And since everything is backgroundtracked anyway...

  • Nice work. "Why it's useful", yeah that's why I played Skate 2 and 3 for so long. There's no screen to check so I log out pretty quickly. I know my longest grind has to be 100 m at least.
