Feedback From a Fan and Skate Rat

     First of all, I want to say what I think is great about the game.  The skating itself feels amazing.  As someone who has played Skate almost religiously since Skate 1, I gotta say it feels like a comfy old T-shirt.  I also like the map and the variety of terrain a whole lot. The city feels colorful and there’s tons of interesting stuff to skate, with a good mix of vert, slopes, rails, ledges, etc.  I really love some of the music inclusions, namely Amyl &the Sniffers, MF Doom, Scowl, Turnstile, and Teen Mortgage (a band whom I’ve actually seen live and met in person, and this has to be huge for them.) I will say that I wish there was a bit more of that punky kinda stuff, and a lot more heavy music inclusions general.

Now for the negatives, and you better buckle up, because there’s a lot.  The art style is not my bag, which is honestly not a dealbreaker, but I really dislike the way the game is clearly trying to emulate something like Fortnite.  I mean it’s really **bleep**ing obvious.  The art style is really on the nose, but the loot boxes and micro-transactions, the stupid emotes… I mean, you added the floss dance!  Do you think we’re idiots?  And there is zero reason for skate to need to pander to a young audience.  Young audiences already love Skate.  If they haven’t played it themselves, they’ve almost definitely seen the memes of it on TikTok, with all the crazy bails, funny glitches, and insane, physically impossible tricks.  Those are the things a lot of people love about Skate.  You don’t need to dumb it down for the kids.  They already dig it.  And about the micro-transactions.  I understand that the game is free, so you gotta pay for it somehow, but honestly I’d have much rather you just charged 60 or even 70 bucks for it, and just included all the content within the game for free.  You could still even put out a bunch of paid content and micro-transactions on top of that.  If it’s gotta be a freemium game, you should at least refrain from stuff like the loot boxes, which btw are literally just gambling.  I guess that whole congressional inquest didn’t really bother EA.  And the choices of clothing are really uninspiring.  I would like to see more hesher-oriented stuff included in the game.  I also wish it was a lot easier to acquire the clothing items you actually want.  I don’t want to grind currency just to have to waste it on a bunch of whack-**bleep** clothes I’m never going to equip on my character.  Nobody likes that.  It also should be a lot easier to acquire branded cosmetic items.  Don’t you wanna put your brand partners’ logos in front of as many eyes as possible?I’ve played for like 15 to 20 hours already and I’ve only unlocked one single branded clothing item: a pair of Vans, which are admittedly pretty cool.

I really hope you take my words into serious consideration, and I’m not just talking to a brick wall here, because I, like a most of us, have a deep love for skateboarding and the Skate games.  And I think I can speak for a decent majority of us fans when I say that this game is a long way off from what we wanted and expected.  Thank you for your time.
