Game Lags Constantly on Xbox One

i know this isnt like a top priority because the xbox one isnt like current generation, but there is something causing the game to lag constantly on my console. i don’t know if its the player count, the fog from the halloween event going on right now, or something else. but the game starts chugging every few seconds. it makes the game borderline unplayable. i think a “performance mode” where maybe the graphics are knocked down a bit in exchange for better performance. anyone else experience this?
