When the clothes and board aren't changing it's easy to feel like I'm in a rut skating the same spots, doing the same challenges etc
I think this is a deliberate design choice to keep people spending on cosmetics: create a game where the variety comes instead from your engagement with visual changes, because the gameplay loop is so shallow and repetitive. Instead of experiencing variety through skating, you’re buying it through MTX.
Agreed, though I would imagine that would push them to roll out realistic clothing that people are willing to spend real money on. This crop top and skirts stuff aint doing it for me and I don't think I'm in the minority.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s working; they’d make better money focusing on the things people want and have asked for, but they aren’t doing that.
They must have had the strategy and the cosmetics in the pipeline for a long time ahead of launch and are now finding out that - predictably - everyone hates it. But then, EA has consistently steered this game in the direction of a new audience ahead of the existing fanbase, so it’s not really a surprise that they have ended up alienating everyone in the process…
