It is not just you: the saccharine colours and cutesy art has absolutely infuriated players since the playtest. I’m not outright against those items being in the game, but they arrived on day one ahead of almost all other forms of clothing. That alone is instructive of their chosen direction, and sets a distinctly pre-teen tone for the wider experience.

You know I actually talked to my nephew who's about 13, I mentioned this game to him and he hadn't played it despite being really into gaming. EA needs to realise that pre-teens and teens only get drawn into games where there are adults, and stop throttling FC so much

Absolutely this. Kids don’t like feeling as though they are being pandered to, and they have a very sharp radar for when it’s happening. They want a slice of the real world with grownup themes - not media that infantilises them. This is particularly true of teens, who ought to be Skate’s bread and butter.
Right now, this game feels like stranger danger: a weird adult trying to act like a child to entice actual children into taking sweets.
