MSGA: Make Skate Music Great Again

SKATE TEAM LISTEN UP

Honestly, the current game music doesn’t really hit the mark. It would be amazing to see a soundtrack that brings back that energy that truly represents what skate culture is all about. Skateboarding and music go hand in hand, and punk, ska, and rock aren’t just background noise, they’re the heartbeat of skate culture. Tracks like Green Day’s "Welcome to Paradise," Blink-182’s "Dammit," Sum 41’s "Fat Lip," and Avril Lavigne’s "Sk8er Boi" aren’t just songs, they’re anthems that get you hyped for every session. Ska hits like Reel Big Fish’s "Sell Out" and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ "The Impression That I Get" add that upbeat energy, while punk-ska combos like Rancid’s "Time Bomb" and Less Than Jake’s "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads" perfectly capture skating’s rebellious spirit. Even Pearl Jam’s "Even Flow" shows how powerful music connects with the skate vibe and would make a huge difference in how the game feels. With the right soundtrack, the game would feel more alive, exciting, and true to the rush and freedom of skating. It’s not just playing, it’s experiencing skate culture itself.

Oh jeez, this would be absolutely terrible. Skating existed long before pop-punk and long after it. I get that these artists are tied to a particular era/time of life for some people, but it’s a very narrow idea of what skate music (and the culture itself) is and has been.

Also, the last thing we need is a ‘make xyz great again’ tag - even if it’s ironic.
