This is Sims: Skate. Not skate.

I didn’t wait 15 years to see the game series that helped shape my personality get turned into a sims game.

this genuinely hurts to play. It feels like you’re looking at skateboarding and calling it childish. When the other games at least took skating seriously. Made you feel like you were apart of the real life culture.

I did photography for local skaters because of the original skate trilogy. I learned to skate because I saw so many pros I looked up to in the games.

there’s no edge to this game. There’s no skaters. No private parks for customization. Just these abstract pads cause newsflash not everyone knows how to build.

After playing a few hours this game just feels like a bunch of women making what they think skaters want with a vague idea of the last games. I only say the thing about women cause somehow there’s 5 guy hairstyles and like 20 women and the only body modification sliders are for your **bleep** and butt. The only thing that feels like skate is the flick it system and that’s not even squared up in this game while at the same time feeling so guided that I can just do whatever tricks/grinds with no skill involved. No broken bones cause now we are just superhumans that just flop like a sack of potatoes canonically; lame. I’d spend legit hours of my childhood just trying to break all my bones in hall of meat and get high scores. That’s all gone.

this is so watered down that it hurts. If I hear one more unfunny quip from a hipster I’m gunna gouge my own ears out.

You should’ve just called this a different game series instead of ruining my childhood and getting my hopes up by saying this is a skate game. As an almost lifelong skate fan. I’m let down immensely.

edit: after putting in 10+ hours and getting done with the bulk of challenges.my opinion still stands. this feels like its made by someone who vaguely played skate 1-3 but really liked tony hawk pro skater.

to be exact. this feels like tony hawk project 8. i love video games; mainly skating ones so ive played dam near everything in my 28 years. i redownloaded tony hawk project 8 and it felt identical other than the flick it system. focus on highscores, own the trick, stunts. arcade stuff to unlock clothes.

theres no relation to the old skate games in this other than voice acting from shingo/slappy but unfortunately thats not enough. theres no drive to become pro, make film for magazines we recognize or anything really connected to skating other than what? dime, thrasher, vans? cool some mall brands.

the other games felt like they were giving you a peak into the lifestyle of being a skater.
this is nothing but a store for children.

re-edit: they didn't even put finger flips in the game. not a single body varial nothing.

I'm not reading all that story but bro skate 3 wasn't realistic.... its not suppose to be a 1-1 realistic game.... everyone would be bored in a day.... theres other options for realistic skate and bmx games.... gotta admit tho wheres the games of S.K.A.T.E? Pro's?

Edit - id say its nothing like tony hawk... its skate 3 on roids

but at least skate 3 had the dignity to make you a pro that was trying to sell boards for your brand. had the respect for skate boarding to put in real brands for free in the games. by tony hawk pro skater i mean this specifically.

when have you EVER collected bearings in a skate game? thats in tony hawk underground. when has own the spot been the focus in skate? that was a side mission in the other games. let alone it was just for a score and if you did a specific trick you could get extra. this version of own the spot is identical with the nail the trick missions in project 8 where you have to do exactly what they tell you or the missions not finished.

please play skate 1-2 first before making an opinion on this game and maybe you will understand.

my opinion is skate 1-2 were amazing representation of being a kid wanting to be a pro skater. 3 took it wild which was mids but it was what it was and i could still turn the game onto a realistic mode and feel like the other games when skate WAS the realistic skating game. started it actually.

this game feels like they are just throwing that crown away and not even competing

yeah you know what you've hit the nail on the head there bro... the no story/career mode is annoying... ive only played for about 4/5 hours... lets hope EA dont do a major EA move and kill the game!

i unfortunately think its gunna get the axe sooner than later if they dont legitimately take it off the store and revamping this mess immediately.

the community is pissed and this is a free game relying on the loot box system that was removed from battlefront 2.

we all know what happened to battlefront 2.

just for anyone else wanting to cope about it being a "beta" thats unfinished.

it took 7 years from concept to full product for session.

its been about 6 years for this game and we got a store.

i would be on your side if this took maybe a year or two to develop.

but EA started Full circle games 5 years ago solely to make this game and we got this playdough.

Braddock512 i genuinely want answers to how this got this way because what the team has provided will get the axe from EA hands down. i dont understand how your team are given one of  the most prestigious IP's in Simulation style skateboarding and provide the most unrealistic money grab of a game that ive seen this year. how can you forget the original set of tricks before adding new ones? why make missions of collecting bearings like a tony hawk game instead of death races like a SKATE game? wtf is a session mini game? yeah i totally wanna just skate in a box of an area with a friend on a timer  instead of playing a game of S.K.A.T.E.

theres so many blatant oversights that it hurts as a fan of the series
