I know there's visually a change for the time of day at grom, but why not the main island? It would be wonderful to skate the districts at night it would also possibly improve the Realism in the editor
man night on the main island would be so freaking sick!. a lot of games struggle with night time lighting and I think grom night was really well done and had a good balance between being dark but not too dark.
even before night grom I always suspected there will be night time on the main Island mostly due to the amount of lights I see everywhere, stadium lights and those mobile lights run by generators are everywhere. speaking of how amazing would it be if we could use those mobile light units as a quick drop item and light up a small area that we want to skate like you see in skate videos.
Thanks for you input because it's something I wasn't aware what would require so much rendering to be completed. Much appreciated for the help in knowledge
Because they have to go and manually add lighting to every single relevant object (streetlights, floodlights, billboards etc) in San Van and adjust them so that they appropriately light the environment and have the right colour. They are working on it because you can see they've added lighting to certain areas like this wall in the rolling waves park.
They also have to manage things like dynamic lighting, how that will affect performance at night, any prebaked lighting the game may or may not make use of.
San Van is about X: 1.4km Y: 1.2km of urban environments, Grom is about X: 600m, Y: 500m with way less lighting to do. Hope that clears it up
