Try This If You're Having Crashing/Freezing Problems On Steam...

In your Steam library go to Skate & right-click on it

Click Properties > Click Installed Files > Click Browse

Now in the files search for the Skate exe (literally called "Skate") & right-click on it

Click Properties > Click Compatibility > Check the boxes that say "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 8" / "Disable full screen optimizations" / "Run this program as administrator"

(I'm not saying it's the definitive fix for any and all problems, but checking these boxes has fixed a lot of my problems)
