- @grrr33nflash Working as intended
@grrr33nflashOk, that's indeed impressive. So sad that numbers don't matter anymore, as for EA this game isn't to be considered economically positive anymore. Apart from the new positive image chances maybe after allowing the game to improve so much.
Haha it was me I started this trend the force in me is strong
- @grrr33nflash Yeah I heard EA tweeted that seemingly trying to pat themselves on the back, but got roasted instead for stopping support right when the game had found it's legs.
Seriously, what a total catastrophe by EA. Look at all the hot new Disney+ Star Wars content they could have been making money off of, and with all these new players? Battlefield 6 better be good lol!!!! @TRlALON EA had to give it away because they couldn’t sell it anymore.
People have been asking the Devs to actually do a good job on this game for years now.
when the game launched it had problems but there was a middle period when the game played far more smoothly and much better than it does now.
the Devs had every opportunity to focus on fixing character imbalances, fixing game mechanic bugs (Vader’s choke, Annakin’s Might, etc), fixing the star cards that don’t work, etc. ... lots of real and valid gameplay issues which they ignored to give us bad maps and some corner cut gameplay modes (co-op).
EA didn’t listen to the players; they pulled an Apple and just did what they want but unlike Apple they didn’t “nail it” so they ended up having to give the game away to keep the title relevant.
honestly, Star Wars is one of the biggest franchises on the planet; how many times have we seen anyone produce something Star Wars related and have to give it away?!? It’s crazy.
19 million players 😮
That's a lot!
@VetteC5RXI don't view the support of Battlefront 2 an issue. This game is completely on another level from where it was at launch. One of the best if not the best turnarounds ever, totally redeeming the game. Co-op is outstanding and one of the most popular additions. Supremacy brought the Conquest gameplay everyone has been asking from DICE since day 1 of Battlefront 2015. Hero balance issues are mostly due to them not put HvV on it's own balancing system.
The problem is EA took the first opportunity to end support right after DICE pulled off the turnaround. They didn't even wait to see where this could lead to.- @Player55 yeah its a lot. Including the already large player bases on console, there was probably 30 million active players or more.
@ArchAngeL-PCX I see support as being almost a joke and game additions being good “in theory” but feeling rushed and corner cut.
I agree they called end of life as quickly as they could (which was a mistake). And the game has many improvement since launch but it also has many elements that are now worse since launch because the Devs over-worked them.
For starters the hit detection wasn’t as bad as it is now. Then there’s the dodge mechanics which haven’t been as good ever since the Devs screwed with the dodge & block transition (the current state of dodge is really hurting the game IMO). Then there’s the ability stacking, which, when paired with the input stacking and input lag make the game feel heavy and clumsy. Then there’s the camera bugs & lags. These weren’t always evident but now I see a lot of instances where the camera lags to reorient your infantry or hero/villain when you try to turn them. In the modes with AI opponents the AI is just sloppy; their aim is impeccable and that alone is ok but the poor logic in their spawn and approach sees you or your squad being overwhelmed and a guaranteed flank; the way it’d been setup you just get mobbed and it really is more geographically dependent on whether or not you do well and that makes the game feel undesirable.
This is supposed to be a “timing” oriented game and if a move cannot be executed in the precise time it’s commanded then it should be ignored in a game like this, not stacked.
HvV doesn’t need its own “balancing” it just needs for the characters to have a more logical balance overall; the Devs failed to do that because of a narrow focus.
rather than fixing the ability bugs or the hit detection bugs or the map bugs or the numerous star card bugs like players have been asking for years they give us awful new maps (a low res Scariff port from BF1, really?!?) and game modes that are great in concept but lack on overall logical follow through.
the game fees developmentally rushed with some of the updates because it’s clear some of the updates were rushed. Seeing as how the developers ignored the majority of what was asked to be rightfully fixed save for near game braking issues.
this game would benefit from some simplicity; it doesn’t need the depth of conditions that have been added to it and it’s clear that the game struggles to resolve them properly leading to numerous excuses for why there’s inconsistent gameplay.
@ArchAngeL-PCXPS+ had the game for free for an entire month last year in June or July so that really helped out. Player base has been tHrIvInG ever since. Xbox just needs a free week or month and the vision will be complete.
