BFII on Origin after you buy/add another edition from a different launcher

I own Battlefront II Deluxe Edition, with preorder skins and hundreds of hours of progress on Origin. I noticed that Epic Games Store's next week giveaway is Battlefront II Celebration Edition. If I add Battlefront II Celebration Edition on Epic, and launch it from there next week:

1-What will happen to my existing progress in BFII? Achievements, hours played, milestones etc

2-Will I get to keep my preorder skins that come with BFII Deluxe Edition?

3-Will I still be able to launch the game from Origin? Or will I need to launch it from Epic every time I want to play it? Can I launch it from both?

4- Will the Epic Games Store version merge with the existing edition of BFII or will it replace it? Or will it act as an add-on/expansion to my existing edition?

5- Can I still invite origin players to my team, if they own the game on a different launcher?

I realise this is more of a technical question, but I really want to avoid turning it into an issue next week.

Thanks in advance.

  • To give a definitive answer to this thread:

1- By adding BFII celebration edition from EGS you keep all achievements, hours played, milestones, and all previous progress you had in-game

2-You get to keep your origin BFII Deluxe/standard edition, and the preorder skins that come with it

3-There will be 2 BFII titles in your game library, one with an EGS label (needs both origin/EGS login to launch), and the other you had prior (requires only origin login)

4-EGS will both be its own title and merge with whatever origin edition you had, celebration will act as an add-on if you had the standard or deluxe edition

5-You can invite friends from origin despite owning it on EGS, as they both need Origin to launch

No one knows? No need to answer every question, but can't imagine not knowing the answer to any of them. I really don't want to have issues with this next week, where I am forced to launch the game I bought on origin via Epic, or potentially lose all my progress/milestones.

  • Hey @Skyrimfall EGS version of SWBF2 will work the same as Steam. So when you start the game up it will ask you to link accounts and then it will start Origin.

When it comes to content shared between the different version and platforms is something I am chasing up on, on how it works.

Yea I recently bought Star Wars Squadrons on EGS, and it requires both an Origin & EGS login to launch. But unlike BFII didn't have an Origin version of Squadrons/or any progress in the game prior to that. If you don't mind me asking, what happens to your existing version of the game on Origin (Standard or Deluxe) when you purchase the Celebration edition from Steam? Since BFII has been out for some time on Steam?

Please feel free to update this post when you have new information regarding this.

    Thanks for replying

@Skyrimfall as its not its own client and still uses Origin lite, your online data will still be there. But for likes of pre order content or editions if that is being shared between EGS and Origin is something we are looking into.

Hi, this happened to me, i own the standard edition of BF2 on Origin so i tryied to install the Celebration edition on epic for free, then on the origin library there is two BF2, the one from origin and the one from epic, and i can launch both of them with all the Celebration edition content. I do not like this merge thing so i tryied to contact epic support to remove from my library the BF2 Celebration edition and when they sad they removed the game i uninstalled it and in the epic library it was gone, while in the origin library the epic BF2 turned in a quite transparent image, where i can't launch from it. When i re-installed my standard edition game on the epic library THE BF2 REAPPEARED. I just don't know how to remove this curse, i even removed the game from the epic library and it just reappeared non sense. Help me please. P.S. i maybe misspelled something, i am not native english

You still get to keep your origin version with Celebration as an add-on (DLC). The second BFII with Epic Label you see on Origin you can hide it if its look bothers you this much. Right-Click then hide. But it doesn't affect your previous progress in any way. Just Hide the Games you don't like to see in your Origin Library.
