Today's episode was excellent. They aren't wasting time with this season. I'll go ahead and insert spoiler tag because anyone who hasn't seen this episode needs to not be spoiled at all.
SpoilerSo when the Darksaber showed up at the end of season 1, I'm sure anyone who has seen Rebels season 4 would ask "what about Bo Katan?" Well now we know lol. Awesome that Katee Sackhoff could also be used as the live action Bo Katan. I like how they are buildig all these threads as the show goes along, like Clone Wars did. And like both Clone Wars and Rebels, season 2 has ramped up the action. Spectacular scenes in this one, especially when the ship leaves the harbor. Stunningly choreographed sequence for them flying up to the ship.
Most interesting to me is the subplot of how different Mandalorian's beliefs are vs Bo Katan and most natural born Mandalorians. And Bo Katan has a very real "by any means necessary" streak. They are fairly opposite in a lot of their beliefs. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of where this goes.
Then there's the big name drop at the end...Ahsoka Tano. Worst kept secret from the show next to Katee Sackhoff playing Bo Katan lol.
And who was that girl at the docks in the beginning? I'm honestly hoping its not Barris Offee. As cool as it is to see returning characters, it'd be nice to see some new ones too. - 6 years ago
Wasn't she one of the 3 Mandalorian
- 6 years ago@ToddyRocket1 Yes
- 6 years ago@ToddyRocket1 Oh wait, you mean the cameo in the beginning? Yeah she is. I saw something today that pointed that out. I don't know why I didn't see the resemblance. Either way, I'm good with that.

So it sounds like that Mandalorian is part of a cult that is run by the Death Watch from the latest episode. Interesting to see that they survived all this time. I wounder if they kept any of the teachings from Darth Maul.
/Atic - 6 years ago@EA_Atic I feel like they have broken off of death watch more then are being run by it considering that Bo-Katan herself was/is? part of death watch.
It would be really cool to see a connection to maul and now that you mention it I hope they explain it in more detail (hopefully with some CW flashbacks)
But then again they don't seem to know much about the force so that is interesting. - 6 years ago@EA_Atic The Armorer’s helmet seems rather reminiscent of Maul’s horns. So I wonder if they will have some sort of flashback to him or something.

@SwellingFoil266 Bo-Katan split from death watch when Maul took the throne. She made Nite Owls mainly women mandalorians but there are some males. From what I can remember is that she thought it was against its creed to have outsiders to rule Mandalore.
@Commander_Ney0 Indeed. The more I see Mandalorian and the reference to the great purge. The more I want to see the great purge to get to know what really happen there. We all know the outcome and some parts of the story thanks to Rebels and Sabin.
/Atic - 6 years ago@EA_Atic I'm beginning to wonder if Death Watch wasn't actually a splintering off from the Watch. Bo Katan told Din Djarin that he was a child of "the Watch".
Din and his covert operate VERY differently from Death Watch...almost polar opposites. Death Watch was very much "win at all cost". The Clone Wars Season 4 episode "A Friend in Need" is where Ahsoka meets Bo Katan for the first time. In that episode, Death Watch is bullying and enslaving a local village. So they don't operate on anything but an absolute basic code of warrior honor. That's also why they would align themselves with Dooku and then Maul.
Din and his covert operate with almost a samurai type of honor code, doing what is honorable and right by everyone around them and with each other. - 6 years ago@EA_Atic yeah Bo Katan and those that followed her rejected the idea an outsider could rule Mandalore. But again, she was ok using Maul and the crime syndicate as a means to an end. I don't see Din Djarin and his covert doing that.

@Commander_Ney0I do think a Maul flashback could still happen though. At some point, I think they need to address Bo Katan's history with Death Watch and that they are directly responsible for everything that happened to Mandalore. I think this is also why Obi-Wan was very measured in his support of her in Season 7. He knew what had happened.
I suppose I'm saying it would be an opportunity for some character development for Bo Katan. What has she learned since her time in Death Watch that would give her a better perspective in re-establishing Mandalore? That sort of thing. If she's to be a recurring character, that would be cool to see.

Mandalorian Mandos -> Remove their helmets freely. // Some don't wear helmets at all.
Concordian Mandos / Death *Watch members -> Remove their helmets freely.
The Mandalorian's (Specific group of) Itinerant Mandos / / *Watch Cultists(?) -> Forbidden to remove helmets(publicly).
! Jango -> Removed his helmet whenever/publicly.
! Boba -> Revered his helmet as his identity (in some materials)
All these Mandos / Not Mandos... // 'True' Mandos. . . . What a shell game.

I just realized what a big thread this has become. Thanks, everyone, for commenting and such. I would have thought this would die, like most of my other threads.
This made my day. 😊 - 6 years ago@Commander_Ney0 Hard to not like the Mandalorian¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@SwellingFoil266
Unless we get another episode like 2
They should of made it a longer episode with 3
I would of been happy if it said double episode 2 and 3
2 was a bit longer and not as exciting
3 was shorter but more compact with story and action
Will be happy if 4 at least is in the middle in action and screen length. - 6 years ago
I’m not really sure how they could have spread out Episode 3. Maybe they could add the Nite Owls going to their base with the Din, or maybe Maul flashbacks?
@Commander_Ney0No problem! Always glad to talk about Mandalorian!
- 6 years ago@ToddyRocket1 I didn't realize at first how short this last episode was. I'm surprised, but yeah I do like how action packed it was. Initially it felt longer than 35m.

Because we now know that "Mandalorian" is anyone that has been accepted into their creed. Does that mean that Maul is technically a Mandalorian?
Or is the whole foundling thing only for the children of the watch? I hope we get info on this becase that would be really interesting. - 6 years ago
So it seems that Gideon is trying to give an army of death troopers and maybe himself the force through blood transfusion.
This brings back 0-0-0's theory from The Shu-Toran War that droids could use the force if they had blood. This will be interesting too see and make the empire actually a threat. Up intill this point, well, 4 people took out a whole base. - 6 years ago
@SwellingFoil266So was that Death Troopers? I couldn't tell if it was that or Purge Troopers. It's great to finally get a look at what Gideon is up to. As great as it was to see Cara Dune and Greef Carga again, I'm sure most would be hoping to see Ahoska Tano instead. Maybe these Death Troopers will make for a good adversary for her. Overall great episode though. I need to watch it again.

@SwellingFoil266Oh man, now I really want to see Darth Maul with Mandalorian armor.
(Even if it’s not official)
- 6 years ago@ArchAngeL-PCX I don't think they are death troopers but i didn't have anything better to call them. It would be cool to see some new type of purge trooper (the original were clones and we be way old) Im gonna guess that there gonna make something completely new (for marketing of course)
- 6 years ago@SwellingFoil266 The original purge troopers were Clones? I didn't know that. Yeah I'm sure this will be some new trooper class. I'm fine with that. It's good to see expanded lore. The Empire always had specialized troopers, even in the OT (AT-AT driver, Tie Pilot, Death Star Trooper, Snow Trooper, Scout Trooper). As we see more aspects of the conflict, it makes sense they had more variations.

@SwellingFoil266When I saw Gideon’s special WIP Stormtroopers, i thought of Dark Troopers that perhaps Gideon had cloned wanted to give force stuff.
(Although Dark Troopers in legends are droids, in cannon they are actual humans, I think).
