PC - Unplayable - XBox controller crashes and restarts system, mouse locked

Almost a hundred crashes and retries later I've almost given up, this is a last ditch effort, so here goes --

Since about 2 days post installing the resurrection update on my PC I began running into issues with XBox controller connectivity with the game, wherein the game will freeze while I'm using the controller and will come back in a few seconds but the controller won't respond anymore, forcing me to use mouse and keyboard to play.

Now this has escalated into another weird problem -

My controller doesn't work at all with this particular game, period. But the problem is that I can't even play using mouse/keyboard anymore, as soon as I join a multiplayer session my mouse locks on the center of the screen focused on the ground rendering the game unplayable.

After I quit and restart the game hoping to fix the problem, the game crashes and RESTARTS my PC.

I've tried uninstalling the re-installing my Bluetooth drivers over and over again, even removing my controller from the paired devices list, REINSTALLING the entire game, repairing the game via Origin but nothing helps.

I have also started a Reddit thread that discusses this, please look here for more context and GIF of the mouse centering issue -- https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7kl0cq/mouse_locked_to_the_floor_forever_tried/

Any help at this point is highly appreciated.

My PC config --

i5 6600k - Zotac GTX 970 - 16Gb Corsair Vengeance- Gigabyte Phoenix B150n Wifi motherboard - Win 10

  • I've also just tried a clean PC restart, didn't help.

It feels like the y-axis input is locked at a continuous down input resulting in a forever floor aiming trooper and a looping starfighter.

I'm having a similar issue with my flight stick in starfighters.  The stick worked fine before the TLJ update but now the mapping is all messed up (left and right stick inputs put me in a roll instead of yaw).  Pulling back on the stick is changing the throttle instead of putting me into a climb. Also the sensitivity is very low.  I tried increasing the sensitivity in settings but it didn't change anything.  I'm using a Sidewinder Precision 2.

I have a makeshift solution to my problem now, however this is NOT acceptable from EA as this doesn't happen in any other of my games.

The solution that I have for now is when I get a stuck y-axis using keyboard/mouse I have to QUIT the game then connect my xbox controller to the system and start the game once again, use the controller for a bit and then turn it off as soon as I join a multiplayer session, then my mouse works fine.

However I want to report that if I continue to play with my Xbox One controller or even try switching to it in the middle of the game like I used to before the TLJ update I get a HARD crash and my PC restarts 10-20 seconds into playing with the controller.

Due to this reason I cannot use my XOne controller with this game anymore, I used to switch between mouse/keyboard for the soldiers and XOne controller for starfighters on the fly previously and really enjoyed it but that is just NOT possible anymore without crashing the game.

STAFF: Please help this issue get some dev attention.

I found a solution that works great for PC.  Download a program called the xbox360 controller emulator.  This program allows you to map any flight stick or joystick to the Xbox controller that Star Wars battlefront II uses by default. Now my flight stick work exactly the way I want. You can custom map the controls any way you want.  The website is https://www.x360ce.com/
