Re: Can't get a game in any mode and ping site fixes don't work

Thanks for sharing your solution @simmoslatts 🙂 And I'm sorry that we didn't pick up this topic earlier ☹️

It would be great if we could get a few more confirmations that those steps are indeed working.

Thanks in advance!

  • I did the first 2 steps minus pulling the power cord and it seemed to work. My normal ping site is Sydney (17 ms) but was getting Dubai (497 ms)
  • @EA_Ataashi I'm on PS4 and power cycle, restoring licenses, re installing game, deleting data etc has not worked. The only thing I am able to do to connect to a game is to launch a search then change my ping site and sit on that page until it launches. It will launch to the ping site I do not want. Upon returning to menu it will then restore my closest ping site and would work until returning to the menus again. Until yesterday this was working to get my preferred ping site but as of today even that has stopped working. It only connects to empty lobbies on the UK ping site and therefore leaves me no choice but to connect to a ping site further away in order to play the game. That's as well as going through the above process every time I want to connect to a game. Please tell me there is something you guys can do by way of hotfix or something. 😵

    Hi @DarthClippy

On PC, we recommend using the disconnect-reconnect workaround. Go into the EA account menu, pick the ping site you want and then exit the menu. Then disconnect and reconnect. And after that stay away from that menu unless they need to really need to change some settings there or read the documents.

    Thanks!

I think I figured out the problem. I noticed that Fortnite uses a similar port as Battlefront. I also noticed that the Epic game Launcher was set on my machine to open at Start up. So I disabled it and some others from my start up and then I restarted my machine and tried to play and it is working fine now.

So maybe try simplifying the applications that run at start up.

Also check the task manager. If the Epic launcher is running it will have issues.

The PC workarounds from these forums and EA aren't working for me.  Some of the folks on the stream I watch are having the same issue.  Game kicks me out of the internet if I try to play arcade, so I go offline.  Ping site keeps changing from US, Ohio to UK.  Can't find any servers with people in them, no matter how long I wait.  Any updates on this?

  • Yeah same here, tried everything...this sucks I bought this game yesterday but idk it says UK which is the least ping I have on but still....no players just empty servers

  • @Wulf_013 and the amount of people saying the same thing on here just shows that there are more than enough potential players to fill the lobbies.

Guess like the previous multiple game breaking issues we just have to wait an excruciatingly long and unreasonable time for a fix!

Probably through a patch that breaks something else in the process!

Explains why the RRP has gone from £75 to £15 in only 9 months.

    🤨

I haven't even really been able to play properly since December, it's gone something like Dead Oceanic Servers+ High ping  ---> Even Worse to Unplayable Server Lag ---> Cheaters One Tapping Heroes With Automatic Weapons ---> Only Empty Lobbies or Unfair High Ping on US Servers ---> Error 1066 and Region Changing.

Wow. This game definitely gets the first place for most and weirdest bugs ever. Glad I stopped playing some time ago.

It is every where cant plsy the game at all in multi player. My lawyer said we can ask for full refund as the game advertises a multiplayer format but does not provide one. This is considered as misleading or false claims

    Hi all,

I have tried the above fix for the ping site issue, I have done the first two.

it would appear that it has worked and reverted my ping site back to Australia (where I am located)

I have tried this at 1am in the morning so there is no surprise that lobbies are empty I will however, check again tomorrow to see if this fix is a long or short term fix.

EA you really need to make this issue more of a priority, as I can say that this issue has resulted in me  just not playing the game and what was released about

how the upcoming content update skins etc is being put ahead of a issue that stops people from playing the game is just not good enough for an already dwindling fan base.

    Platform: Xbox One

Quick update!  I tried something suggested by one of Battlefront Update's senators, Dangercat (@dangercato on twitter).  Dangercat noted trying:

"Select the region you want > back out of the menu > alt-f4. As long as you don't mess with the selector, you should have the correct region now."

For all y'all not used to hotkeys, alt+f4 will close your game, that's expected.  I set my region to Germany and not only did it stay there, but I was only kicked off the internet once.  I rode that out, reconnected in-game, and had no issues afterwards.  After a month of not playing, I was able to play HvV, HvV (starfighter), Starfighter Assault, and Blast, no problem.  I was also able to play arcade.  I even tried leaving the game and getting back in, it was still working.

It may not be a permanent fix, but you can imagine it's more than enough for me by now.  Thanks so much to Dangercat for such an easy fix to a month-long problem.

@Bigbowse - Hi - I am also located in Australia.

I have found the US Oregon ping site the most reliable and am using it most of the time although it keeps telling me I have a slow internet connection but this hasn't effected gameplay. It maybe because the milliseconds are around 140 not 25 as in Australia. This is only a temporary solution until EA fixes the real problem. Also I don't understand why you are reverting back to Australia as mine stays in Oregon unless I manually change it.
  • I can confirm that the fixes on the first part of this thread work.

  • There needs to be much more care about fixing these issues with this game. There is a lot of players wanting to play this game and they can't find any online games to play. I'm a huge star wars fan..this game is my favorite. But I will refuse to play this game while there is no support from little to no one with communication saying they are trying to fix the problens.
