Screen has shade of gray PLS HELP!!!!!!!

So, i was playing Battlefront II campaign. I finished a bunch of missions and decided i wanted to play online. But when i quit campaign my game was loading for more than 5 mins so i closed the game with ctrl + alt + delete and ended task for battlefront II. But when i got back to my homescreen my screen had a shade of gray. So i restarted my pc but the shade of gray was still there, so i looked in my settings and changed some things but nothing worked and i looked for solutions on google but nothing helped me. Can someone pls help me out? Im putting this in the origin forums since battlefront II did this to my pc.

    So basically the grey filter is till there and messes things up. All colors and resolution are still off, just not as bad as without HDR activated. Working from home is annoying because of this. And recording games that doesn't go full screen is just garbage now. Some hours of Half-Life alyx recordings are useless because of the grey filter. I also had to download a new codec to even view the videos recorded with the HDR activated. Is there really no fix to this? Do I really have to toss an expensive pc-monitor just because something is messing with the interface between the graphics card and the screen settings?

    Update: After some more testing. I found that if I use the display cable on my monitor instead of the HDMI, the monitor is recognized as a new monitor and the grey filter is gone. This is more a method of going around the problem. If it's a new screen, aka not related to any settings and as stated before, the grey filter must be connected to the monitor used when it appeared. Recognizing it as a new monitor thus appears to fix the problem.
    In order to actually fix the problem, the files that identifies the screen via windows? must be found and deleted. I have yet to find this out.

    Now I looked in the display settings (windows) and there I saw the HDR setting was activated, which I'm unsure if I've ticked before or not. when I unchecked that one the screen went back to normal. This makes me question my conclusions earlier. When I on the monitor change the mode to HDR, just some small changes to the screen as before the grey filter. But if I instead activate HDR in windows display settings the screen gets the grey filter.

    I have no idea when windows HDR was turned on, maybe I myself turned it on while trying to find a fix for the grey filter, or it has been on since I played battlefront 2.

    Hi, just letting you all know I had the same problem. In early February I was playing Battlefront 2 single player campaign on PC. The game froze then crashed, my PC restarted and my monitor was never the same. I have a Monoproce Dark Matter, 34" Ultrawide QHD. After the crash the color changed and became very dull, as if the saturation was diminished. I called Monoprice (the manufacturer) and they have no idea what happened or how to fix it so I did return the monitor as it's very new and still under warranty. I'm hoping they replace the monitor. Needless to say, I won't be playing Battlefront 2 any longer. This is the most severe bug/issue I've ever encountered with PC gaming and if it's a problem with the game itself, EA needs to address it immediately.

    Hey @bkenny01 this issue is generally caused by a cable or issue with the monitor and not by a game.

    Hi Darko. This is definitely not a problem with the cable, I tried other cables and had the same problem. And now I see it's most likely not a problem with the monitor either. I received a replacement monitor from Monoprice, same exact model. So I set it up with my PC and much to my dismay it had the same dreaded "grey filter!" Based on this and the other testimonials, it's almost certainly a problem with this game and EA seriously needs to address it. This is the worst "bug" I have ever encountered as it not only effects the game, but the user's hardware as well.

    I went back through this thread and read what one person said about HDR. I noticed that HDR was turned on in my system display settings, so I turned it off and the grey filter disappeared. So this seems to be a solution. But will this effect the graphics and visuals during gaming? I'm still able to turn on HDR from the monitor menu and it seems to work normally. I greatly appreciate any advice.

    Hey @bkenny01 this is a system issue rather than a game one. You will need to go through you system and monitor settings and try changing them till you find the best for your setup. If having an issue with how HDR content is displaying then you can disable it.

    Hey, not sure if you or anyone else is having this issue, but I managed to fix mine by going into the video settings in Battlefront and turning off High Dynamic Range (which used to be on auto).  My screen went back to normal and the grey tone of the screen went away.  Not sure if this would help for your case or not :D
