Started having severe lag + can't change server

Hello.

The game was running perfectly for my friend and me since we got it. Problems started happening a couple of weeks ago. Firstly, after we launch the game, we're offline, and have to make several attempts to connect to the server, as it keeps failing. During multiplayer matches there's severe lag in the form of the game freezing or stuttering every few seconds.

We tried going into Options -> EA Account to change the server we connect to, but the option is greyed out for both of us for some reason.

I hoped that the situation would improve over time but that isn't the case.
