Why we don't have unlimited doges.

We should have unlimited doges as lightsaber heroes or more than two for all but two (Doku and Rey with star cards). If we got more doges lightsaber combat would have more depth to it. Battles would actually flow instead of going in a circle. It would be easier to get behind somebody and make combat more difficult and emphasize skillful play. You cant R2R2R2R2R2, someone, if that person is dogging and getting behind you forcing you to stop since your not hitting anything.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

  • Lightsaber battles aren't meant to be sophisticated in BF2, this is a blaster first game where the lightsaber needs to fit in and function so you should never expect this game to be jedi outcast or something.

    The dodges would become too abused if they were infinite, then they would have to add something more complicated to penalize dodge abuse, right now its fine as is.  Dooku is given this because its in line with his character, Rey...they just gave it to her.

    Lightsaber duels would be better if they kept their old philosophy of well timed blocks staggering the attacker, giving it a little more of a chess game element, unless they were able to put in full lightsaber blocking. IMO

  • Hi,

    @Generaljohnobi

    Thanks for posting.

    Unlimited lightsaber hero or villain doges, I believe, would become an absolute nightmare. They have to be capped somewhere, but I do agree with increasing the amount that you can do and they could be quickened slightly because their too slow for my playing style.

    If someones R2 spamming you, hold them off the best you can until all of their stamina drains, then R2R2R2R2R2 spam them - hope this helps...

    May the force be with you... always.

    @lukeobionechew What about 3 or 4 doges? when I go up agist someone that's a spammer I am usually caught with my pants around my ankles at half stamina so blocking helps until it doesn't. I need to work on my stamina management though.
    May the force be with **you** always.
    Have a good day

    Hi @raidernaphtali

    I appreciate your answer but I disagree with you when it comes to certain things.

    1.lightsaber stagger effect was the worst lightsaber mechanic I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing. It was a horrible block fest. Lightsaber battles should have a certain flow to them. Combat should feel fluid and strategic. They removed this, thank god, and "added" the wondrous parry mechanic and it is glorious. I remember when that stagger effect was in the game and anytime I duel someone who was good we would just hold up our blocks and doge around it wasn't fun I didn't want to get killed and they didn't wasn't to get hit with that stagger effect.

    2. This isn't just a blast first game. Ask anyone about probably number one would be the Jedi (lightsaber) or Darth Vader(also lightsaber).  Blasters are a part of the game, yes, but lightsabers they matter more because of the name associated with the title.

     You said you wanted a well-timed block mechanic. Enter the parry, hold down your block and when someone attacks with their saber, attack them and then keep blocking. It is the best against saber spammers, although you can also use this against pro duelist when they try and press you when you are at low health.
