Controller partially working

Unable to use the XBOX 360 controller to play the game. Only able to use left stick to move in game. Controller does not work in title screen or menus.

Edit. Tried the following solutions:

Have tried unplugging and reconnecting controller during game. Still the same.

Have tried unplugging the controller before game launch and the reconnecting after. Still the same.

Controller works in all other supported games.

  • I am experiencing the exact same issues with Xbox 360 controller, can only get the left stick to work. The controller(s) are working fine in all other origin games I have. I have tried:

    Unplugging and replugging the controller.

    Restarting the game.

Unplugging and replugging the controller while in-game.

Switch the controller to another Xbox 360 controller.

    So far no luck.

XboxOne controller i have similar issues. In menus the back 🍺 button wont work properly it wont work or acts like confirm (A) button. Ingame pause/strat button doesn't work at all. Switching on/off fixes it for brief moment and then it goes haywire again. Only way to fix it is running Origin as a non-steam game in Steam and then with their controller config it works perfectly with XboxOne and DualShock 4 controllers. Hopefully  this will be patched out quick its quite annoying.

@PantherIV I cant get it to work that way either. I have never had any problems with games. Even the most indie games work with my controller and yet here we have a AAA experience that doesnt even let you control the character. Massive failure.
  • @Druid754  Try big picture mode and toggle pads from controller settings menu. Also make sure you run Origin as a non steam game and then from there run Jedi. Adding jedi .exe directly dosn't work.

I fixed all my controller issues by disabling Origin in-game overlay.

5 years later and Origin still has the same bugs it had at launch, sad.

@MiniOverKill Man, I can't tell you how much hope this message gave me. I went through and disabled every single overlay from Discord to Origin and even the Windows Game Bar. No dice. Thanks for the tip, though. God knows Respawn isn't providing any help.
  • I think I found a temporary solution for all you guys using the Xbox One controller with Bluetooth on Windows 10.

I noticed that when I'm having this problem, my PC recognizes the controller as an XBOX 360 controller when connected to Bluetooth. I don't know why, but this didn't affect any other games, FIFA 20 worked fine using my controller on Bluetooth mode. So I went ahead and connected my controller without Bluetooth, and using the USB cable. It recognized my device as an XBOX One controller, and after I removed the original 360 drivers downloaded when it was connected to Bluetooth the game finally started working with the controller. Hopefully, this works for you guys too.

    STEPS:

    1. Connect your Xbox One Controller to your Windows 10 PC with a USB cable.

    2. Right-click the Windows Button

    3. Click Device Manager

    4. Check if your device is recognized as an Xbox One Controller under Xbox Peripherals

=> Proceed to Step 5. If it is recognized

    5. Click Xbox 360 Controller Peripherals

=> No Xbox 360 Controller Peripherals, Sorry can't help T.T

    6. Right-click Windows Xbox 360 Controller and select Remove this device

    7. Run the game

@dchoi0818 You are a god among men. This worked! For me, I couldn't uninstall the device, but I was able to disable it. After restarting, I've been able to use my XBox Elite 2 Controller, even with the wireless dongle. Great work. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
