Feature request: Target nearest enemy fighter/Target nearest enemy ship

Hi Motive.

Just wanted to say that you forgot THE most important button of all the buttons in the old xwing vs tie fighter game. Target nearest enemy fighter.

Please can you add it? I hate to pick a target just to to see it is 3km ahead, when I "hear" enemy fighters much closer than that, or I just saw a few swoop past me.

So pls, add "Target nearest enemy fighter" to the button list. Pretty Please? :D

Regards /mrjimp

  • Use 5 to access the targeting wheel to select "enemy fighters", then use F, if you're on PC. If you're on console, you'll need to determine which buttons to use.

I think some of the ships may be equipped with stealth, which, I believe, means you to have target them with T, when you see them.

@DarthFDG But that wont target the closest fighter. It will just pick any fighter.

I want the one that is closest to me right now! Old game had that. It was invaluable.
  • @mrJimp I agree its the primary targetting button on every space game ever made...why is not there...

As a slight workaround if you press cycle targets twice it will target an enemy that is targetting you, at least that means it targets something close. Still...would prefer the option thats available in every other game.

I was under the impression F targeted closest enemy. Not doing that for you, I suppose...

I think it targets often the closest but sometimes they are hidden etc.

  • No, F only cycles targets. There does not appear to be any button to target the nearest enemy. You need to have this. On all the old games it was the 'r' key, and it should be for this game. Almost game-breaking.  The closest work around I have found is to turn on targeting to auto-target what you are shooting at in the reticle. That can help at least to target a closer fighter, but they have to be in front of you. The other option is the 'g' button which will target your attacker. Problem is, the closest ship isn't always attacking you or in front of you. So for now, we're without the most important function button of any flight sim.  Patiently waiting.
