@EA_Atic
I still have this issue post patch. I know there are many others who have voiced it as well on Reddit and/or Steam forums. It appears to predominantly occur on Oculus headsets, but I may be wrong.
Something to note: The game is fully capable of running at stable framerates. Currently I can test performance in practice mode with all VR video settings on LOW or OFF, with 40 – 50% GPU headway, running the Quest 2 via link at the recommended settings at 72hz. The game can sometimes perform perfectly smooth through an entire ranked fleet battles match. However, at random times, though consistently after at least 1 – 4 matches, about 10 – 15 min through a match, the FPS appears to start to degrade upon each death, or until the FPS will suddenly drop to around 5 – 10 FPS and never recover. This also will occur suddenly when entering the flagship hanger to repair/change ships/resupply. At this point the game becomes unplayable, toggling VR off/on does not resolve the issue. The only thing that resolves it is by leaving the match, restarting the game and re-joining the match.
Things I have tried:
I have followed this guide on reddit here completely:
https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsSquadrons/comments/jez56v/psa_steps_to_take_to_enjoy_vr/
I have updated all of my operating system, video card, and hardware drivers. I have tried re-installing the game, verifying file integrity in the Steam Library. I have tinkered with the in-game settings and ProfileOptions_profile, adjusted settings within Oculus Debug Tool, optimized the game to the exact NVIDIA GeForce Experience recommendations or lower. I have updated all of my Oculus Hardware/Software. I have made sure there is nothing else running in the background. I have tried launching the game in 2D mode and toggling to VR. I have tried playing the game via wireless Virtual Desktop.
These are my specs:
GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GPU, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s), 16 GB Corsair RAM.
I am playing the game on an Oculus Quest 2 via Oculus Link (official cable) with a T.160000M HOTAS. I am using a USB-C 3.1 port is a is a Gen 2 (10 Gbps).
The issue never occurs in dogfight mode, only in fleet battles in VR. Specifically, after dying or when docking into the flagship hanger during a match. This seems to occur regardless of what my video or graphical settings are set to. The game runs flawlessly at everything set to ULTRA and the highest settings on my PC in 2D mode.
I tried to be thorough here. Let me know if you would like any additional information. The game is amazing, I really hope you guys can fix this, because it makes ranked fleet battles unplayable.
