Interceptor Class is a bit too good in comparison

The Interceptor Class (and especially the A-Wing) is too good.

Meaning: Pick an Interceptor, and you usually get better results with less effort.

Even in Fleet Battles a Team with 4 Interceptors only will likely win simply because the other classes are overall less effective and more likely to get killed than do damage.

While I wouldn´t necessarily change anything about the Interceptors´own stats, I think it is necessary that Fighters, Support and Bombers should get a range advantage over Interceptors in order to keep those classes viable choices.

Increase the range of Standard and Burst Laser Cannons for Fighter, Bomber and Support to 1300; otherwise this game will degrade into Interceptor Monotony.

Thoughts?

  • I prefer X-wing for NR and I do frequently use TIE Ceptor. Basically I feel it is up to personal Skill and Team Coordination.

Sometimes I get knocked around in a PVP Dogfight, sometimes my Team dominates. So basically I do not think A-Wing needs to be overly nerfed.

  • @Del_INQ_nt The barrage rockets absolutely destroy everything. Going head-on against a Starfighter, and you will win. Especially with the ION barrage rockets added, and combined with lasers, nothing stands a chance.

yeah that interceptor with rockets build is just too good. u die just too fast.

often got players with 27:4 or smthg and they dont do any dmg to btlships. but they are mvps all the time....-.-

  • It's normal that the class intended for killing is better at a game mode that is just about killing.

I don't think interceptors are too strong, I think there's more to it than just simply interceptors are too strong.

A-wings are a tad strong strong but it's not the whole class that is and it's because of it's tankyness, you have a supposedly glass canon running around with as much health as an all rounder (500 base hp plus 250x2 with rearranging shields and overloaded shields so 500 health again = 1 500 base hp), a nerf of a 200 to the shield should be enough (100 front, 100 back, 200 total, 400 overloaded).

Rockets are overall too strong too, every ship that has it just runs it by default, it need a nerf to it's damage to be more on par with the other good secondary instead of being an obligatory default.

I also think the fighters lacks a tiny bit of damage on their default lasers and supports are too easy to kill (more hp?) and the y-wing deserves a buff to be on par with the tie bomber and the game would be pretty well balanced class wise.

  • AWings used to get picked off fairly quickly (if they weren't flying well) under the heavy rotary laser fire of an accurate TIE Bomber, but gone are those days.

Now it takes an Interceptor or a very maneuverable (properly loaded out) Fighter to take out another Interceptor.

I agree that the AWing seems quite a bit better than the TIE/IN Interceptor.

I fly just about everything except Support, and even though I like to use them (especially for Fleet Modes), I think the biggest problem with Interceptors is the Rockets.  Either the quantity should be reduced, or maybe the firing rate should be slowed down.  But, I feel the extreme Bomber NERFs have upset the balance of the ships more than it has helped, so I'm skeptical of making any more drastic changes actually solving anything.

  • you see to want them nerf'd. I don't think they should be.. I use a bomber in dog fights and do better than in an interceptor. I dont see why something ment for quick killing should be nerf'd.. it's weak. it's easy to kill if you can catch it. the only nerf i would suggest at all is to the balanced and weapons max speed. by like 10 at most.

  • The Awing is not better than the TIE INT. When properly flown, the TIE Int is superior in everything except a head on joust.

  • please don't nerf them. They are fine as they are, they are great ship killers but are poor against capital/flagships. If there is a nerf then it should only be a nerf to damage against capital/flagships. The rockets are powerful but maneaveribility can really help to avoid that. I mostly fly xwing/tie fighters. But the last thing I want is for the game to be overbalanced and watered down.

INT and AWING are glass cannons...literally made of paper. Stop calling for nerfs. TIE bombers were probably one of the few ships that desperately needed a nerf. If you can't kill an AWING or INT force it into a joust and build around that. A properly built and flown xwing or tie fighter is a nightmare for an interceptor pilot
