Multiplayer operations

2 issues.  Actually playing multiplayer and having 2 people with 2 controllers play the game on the same PS4.

Never owned a console game since literally the Atari 2600 so forgive any ignorance.

I bought the PS4 for my son and myself with the Battlefront Star Wars package.  I am setting it up for a Christmas surprise for him.  Got the PS4 working got everything downloaded.  Tested the tutorial to make sure on how to play the game so I can teach him.  I went to the multiplayer mode to see how it is done and it is asking me for money to play the game?!?!?!  Some $50 a year pass.   Why do I have to pay a yearly pass to play a game I own?

Why do I have to buy a product, then it ask me for more money just so I can play online with my son?  It has no real single player content.  I read you can play coop with another person.  One of the reasons I bought this game.  Now I am reading you can only play the tutorials as a coop.

I don't mean to sound crude here but WTF!?!

This seems like misleading advertisement on a game.  I am a big Sony buyer.  All my electronics are Sony.  I knew EA and played EA games since I was the 1980s.  But if I have to pay to buy basically an empty game, then pay every year to play it that sounds like a sham.  This isn't World of Warcraft which CLEARLY stats it is a month subscription.   I havent found any information on this game being one until after I got it and tried to play it.

What am I missing here?

  • That pass isn't made by EA. It's made by Sony. Sony asks you to pay for the subscription to access online portion of the game. You'll have to talk with Sony about this since EA has nothing to do with it.

The same applies to the other games. Games on PC don't require online pass to play them multiplayer, you just need the game.

Ok.  I owned PC versions of games like this for years and there was no fee.

    Ok *ing at Sony now.
