Sure that would "fix" the stutter problem due to the games fps being so low that it isn't noticeable but it also makes the game look like garbage with the game still being unplayable. I didn't buy a $60 game to run it at * settings than an Xbox 360 would...
I disagree. The game still microfreezes when capped at 30 fps, to a lesser extent but it is still highly noticeable, and also when you play at the absolute lowest graphics settings (medium) and resolution, with vsync and dynamic resolution off. The asset streaming between levels has been poorly coded in this game. What they should have done is make it pause and load everything it needs for a given level and then players can play through that level without issues. But that would somewhat break the appearance of openness of the levels. But it's still better than a stuttering mess.

People keep posting their specs, but omitting the storage media JFO is installed on. Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned storage I/O, and that that might be a factor. I am using a NVMe SSD drive, and having no stuttering whatsoever at 60fps. Wondering if that has something to do with it. Also noticing consistent problems with PS4 users, which uses mechanical HDD.
System Specs:
i7 8700K
NVidia RTX 2060
16GB RAM
Samsung 970 Evo SSD
- @Gargamel314 I'm using a 970pro and only solved by limiting fps to 30

Have you tried identifying the bottleneck with a hardware monitor? I think msi afterburner has a hardware monitor overlay you can watch while playing.
- @Gargamel314 I have hwinfo in the background most of the time... I feel like I have literally tried everything.... Overclocked with msi, underclocked, overclocked cpu... I always hit power limits, and maybe that's the cause? But that is triggered on every single game anyway and has never caused such stutter. And the consistant thing is, the stutter builds up over time... Like a pagefile issue.... But I've tried increasing the pagefile... Decreasing it, letting windows set it.... I don't know what else to do.

JFO hardly uses any of my pagefile. I have 4gb allocated and it uses 500mb at most. I also have game mode in W10 disabled, I heard that causes some issues too.
- @Gargamel314 Did that too.... Only reason I say it might be a memory issue is because it only starts after about 10- 15 min of play and progressively happens more often as you play ... That's my only clue..
Running game on:
Stock Ryzen 5 3600
5700 Xt sapphire pulse
Ddr4 3200 cli16 ram
Installed on WD SN750 NVMe sad
Running on a XR341CK ultrawide monitor at 3440x1440. Maxed everything out and the game was running at 50-60 fps, sometimes jumping to my 75 cap, but it would stutter frequently. I see frames race down to below 30 fps.
I will play a game at a low framerate, 35 - 45 fps and with freesync it generally looks good. But common low framerate dips like this are a no go...
And yeah I did turn shadows down. Bumped my frame rate up to 60-70fps, but the game still stutters. This games art and graphics look amazing. It's a true shame a month post launch it's still a buggy garbage port with subpar performance. Returned it to origin before the 24 hour trial period is up....
Also I couldn't play the game in fullscreens mode. I had to do windowed full screen. When I tried to set fullscreens the video setting menu becomes partially inaccessible to keyboard, mouse and Xbox controller.... The mouse won't even click on most of the menus.
More symptomes of a garbage pc port. Not worth my time to debug it to see if I can trick the game into working right .... Maybe I'll try to buy it a year from now when it goes on a steam sale......
- @reaperL5D I don't know if you were able get your issue resolved but the issue I experienced was fixed switching the xbox one controller off bluetooth and back to usb.
Thanks for this suggestion. I can confirm that this worked for me. It was so bad that even the starting menu was chugging but after I plugged my Xbox One controller in rather than use it wirelessly, it stopped chugging and is now running perfectly.
- @Gargamel314 The place it's stored on doesn't matter, people have tried with an m.2 ssd, sata ssd, and hdd the stutter still happens. I've only tried it myself with a sata ssd and hdd but I find it hard to believe it fixes anything
so are the devs just on "moving on " attitude from this game after the last "update content" ? i mean people have been expressing their displease for months already about the performance on this game, no matter how strong your system may be the game its a mess in terms of performance.
it would be really appreciated from the dev team if they actually came around and say something about a possible release of a fix update for performance related only.
we really need a performance stability and improvement from what we currently have...
Sighs....I have an rtx 2080 ti and 9700k and I'm still getting ridiculous stutter/pauses in the game with 90+ fps with all EPIC settings...literally on a fresh install of windows too..
I guess I can't play the game then.. what the hell EA.

I have one last trick, but I have no idea if it will help or not. *Use at your own risk* It's recommended you create a system restore point first:
As an administrator in cmd, type these commands:bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
What's this actually doing? Dynamic Ticks are a feature that lets windows stop the system timer when nothing is happening in order to conserve power. useplatformclock true turns on High Precision Event Timer (HPET). More Info on HPET here: https://www.reddit.com/r/joinsquad/comments/4s4l8w/enable_your_motherboards_hpet_to_improve/
To reverse, go back to cmd as an adminstrator and type:
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick no
bcdedit /set useplatformclock false
When I tried it, there was still a tiny microstutter when running into a new region of the map, but overall my system felt a little more responsive. Good luck 🙂
