- @The_Suit05 Yeah I agree, it's too distracting; we need to be able to see as much of the environment as possible. Cockpits taking up too much of the screen was something I was worried about

Get used to it, there is no 3rd person view...
The "meaningful purpose" is to provide immersion and differentiation between crafts.
There is also a very practical meaningful purpose: You *need* a stationary cockpit in VR to avoid getting nauseous. Because you're physically stationary, the virtual world also needs a good stationary portion that agrees with your senses.
To cater to 0.01% of the player base that may use VR is not a "meaningful" purpose. to have such massive obstructive huds.
A great example of Non-Obstructive HuD
- @BluesyMoo This. The idea is that visibility is also a feature of the ship.
Well this is how Star Wars ships really are, they don't have fancy holographic displays or anything, this is the way they really are and they all have a use.
Ya just to give you a nice comparison.
This is the Old Original MS DoS Tie Fighter Game. Notice the Hud while still showing the entire Design takes as little space as possible in order to maintain the Hexagon Window.
Now look the Modern Version.
Notice that 1/3 of the Screen is just the Rim. and another 1/5th of the remaining screen is the WIndow Bracing and 1/6th of the Screen is the Central Control Panel.
- @The_Suit05 Should I buy this, I will welcome the challenge of being forced to play through cockpit view.
I think the easiest solution for them is to decrease the thickness of the glass bars by 50% and and the move the camera up closer with the hud lower.near the bottom.
You’re comparing bomber cockpit to fighter cockpit. This is the fighter cockpit.
