Find Greez - BD-noculars can't open holomap - can't proceed in game

Product: STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor
Platform:Steam-PC
Summarize your bug At the start of the "Find Greez" mission, I follow the path from the crash through a split in the rocks to the overlook. There are two short audio "bongs", then the dialog where I am prompted to use BD and his binoculars. I am then prompted to place a beacon on the dinosaur thing. After that I am prompted to view the beacon on the holomap. This is where the bug happens. When I click to open the holomap, it says "holomap not available". I can close that screen, but it takes me back to the binoculars and the prompt to open the holomap is still there. It will not let me close the binoculars. My only option is to exit the game.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? No idea. I played through the whole game before and started a new game. Now this is happening. I have tried exiting, rebooting, continuing, exit/reboot again and load a previous save. I have tried reducing the graphics quality. The holomap is there before going through the split in the rocks, but after the two audio bongs, it is unavailable.
What happens when the bug occurs? Unable to exit the binoculars, and therefore unable to proceed with the game.
What do you expect to see? the holomap displayed, and then to exit the binoculars and proceed with the game.

I bought the game before release and played through it over the first couple of weeks.  I did not have the problem then.  Now, after the patches, I am stuck here.

  • Hello, I had this same problem and was able to fix it by using a PlayStation 5 controller and pressing directly in the middle of the center pad button. The holomap came up and I was able to proceed with the game. Only the center of the pad works as this did not work if I pressed on the left or right side of the pad. Hope this helps.

  • I know this is from 2023, but now it is 09/21/24 and I just ran into this problem playing on a windows 11 computer with no gaming controller.

For anyone else that runs into this issue:

    1. Go to your controller settings (esc --> sprocket --> controller)

    2. Then Edit Controls.

    3. Select the middle Open Map shortcut button and choose select to map it to a key.

    4. Map it to a key by holding that key down.  I mapped it to the . and it worked.

    5. Exit out of controls with c.

Now you can push the . and get to the beacon area.  Now you can push C and continue the game.

    This was extremely frustrating.
