Is my laptop able to handle this game?

Hi there.

I have an Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop. I've been trying to play Survivor for a while now, and this last time I thought it would finally work. I downloaded the latest Nvidia driver and the game was running smoother than I'd ever seen it run. But then once I got to Koboh (specifically at the Forest Array) it glitches so much its just not fun anymore. I just don't get it. Do I need more RAM? I have an i5 intel core processing unit. Is that good enough?

Any help is greatly appreciated 🙂 I loved Fallen Order and really want to play this game!

  • @gpatter  The processor may or may not be good enough, depending on the exact model.  The same goes for the graphics card.  What would be more helpful is for you to provide a dxdiag, which will list system specs and drivers as well as some details about recent Windows errors, including crashes.  So please run one and attach it to a post.

Please also disable Raytracing and let me know whether it helps.

Thank you for your help! Here's what I found:

    • OS: 64-bit Windows 11
    • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i5-11400H
    • Memory: 8 GB
    • Graphics card (NVIDIA): GeForce GTX 1650
    • DirectX: 12
    • Hard-drive space: 237 GB

I also read about disabling ray-tracing a while ago and it helped but didn't fix the issues.

@gpatter  Your laptop's graphics card is significantly below the minimum requirement for Jedi Survivor.  It's both much slower than the listed GTX 1070 and has half the video memory.  Either or both could be the problem here.

The only suggestions I can make are to lower the graphics settings to the minimum, and to lower the in-game resolution too.  I can't promise that this will make the game stable, but it's possible you'll be able to play without too much crashing.  Also, make sure your laptop can properly cool itself: play on a hard flat surface (no resting the laptop on a blanket), or use a tray or cooling pad.  Thermal throttling will only make the problem worse.

  • No hardware on the market can handle this game. I have a 4090 and 13th gen i9 and get less than 60fps. A guy made a mod that fixed it by adding support for DLSS 3 and then EA BROKE IT with their latest game update. I dont feel like paying him $5 a month for something that EA should be doing in the first place. Don't waste your time buying this game until EA decides to stop being A holes and add support for DLSS :P

    Hey @xthebiohazardx,

This is unfortunately unrelated information, rather off-topic even, to where this topic is about. This player is asking for advice.
