I was losing hope the game would ever work again after moving to Windows 11 but, today, after installing 24H2 (shudder... was truly a "that's no moon" moment for me), trying alllll the troubleshooting measures and then, as a last resort, updating the graphics driver to the latest NVIDIA game ready driver (which only lists 50 series card fixes and game ready drivers can be a bit hit-and-miss), the game finally worked.
