I'm having a similar issue, just waiting for more patches at this point.
Try this cause I did this when it happened to work for me.
Open steam on same monitor you play on.
Launch the game.
When the intro starts, alt+tab so steam is up.
Allow it to load in the background.
Idk that this is actually the solution but I did it and I'm able to play it right now with no problems.
