(PS5) No XP reward for boss fight, BD visor/mind trick/force slam not working

Playing on PS5, I've been stuck the last couple of nights unable to get past Dagan at the top of the Observatory on Koboh. Tonight I saw the latest patch had installed and the game loaded up anew, at my save point. Noticed the performance was better, which was great, given how abysmal it's been on performance mode on 2 month old 4k 65" TV, even with game mode, VRR and ALLM enabled. I've been playing at 1080p output from the PS5 to try to get better frames per second but it's been the same the whole way through, and it's super frustrating that the game even launched with such terrible performance. 

Ran in, got to the halfway point where Dagan turns the room upside, picked up my XP etc from the glowing point where it was after I last died (I had about 3/4 of the way to a skill point), managed to finally defeat him. Watched cutscenes, and when I got to the next meditation point to save I saw I had zero XP accrued and no skill points - something I'd expect to have after defeating a serious boss. 

Went back to the Saloon, bought some things from Zee, then went to explore a bit - I'm accumulating XP for little stuff but the XP bonus from the Wisdom perk should be giving me more. Found a scout trooper patrol and tried to jedi mind-trick 1 to attack, he attacked - the rest of the patrol came at me and he died, couldn't mind trick again. Found another group of enemies, again can't jedi mind trick them. 

Flew to another planet, went to somewhere I thought I could try using BD1's electo-dart thing - found it, and discovered I can't use BD1's visor zoom or electro dart or Koboh matter spray anymore. 

Looks like this patch has seriously broken the game.
