Re: [OPEN] Cannot open BD-1 abilities

I have now found out that BD1 not being able to scan the balloon grappling ability on Summit Ridge is game breaking. I went on the next mission, on the Shattered Moon, and need the balloon grappling ability to complete it. So I cannot progress any further in the game! Please fix it!

I’m having the exact same issue as @Angedelabime69 Have restarted console, restarted game, went back and tried saving at a different meditation point and nothing is causing it to trigger.

Same issue here, next to gondola elevator on summit ridge. Single balloon to learn the ability, and BD is going crazy beeping looking up at the balloon but no prompt and cannot open his skills with down button. Already restarted once from a cut scene error. The swamp pillar puzzle was buggy as hell. Not restarting again, please fix this game ending bug.

Pillar puzzle was buggy for me as well! Took me over an hour to get it down.

@Angedelabime69  Im also having the same problem, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and even that didnt work

Anyone been given a fix for this yet? I'm also stuck with this.

@omhebson  no fix yet, knowing ea it wont be fixed for a few weeks because only a handful of people are having this issue

Tried that as well. Also just tried putting all BD-1s customizeables back to default except for colors and that didn’t change it either.

For all having the issue of BD-1 not able to scan the balloons on Summit Ridge. I also ran into this issue. I tried everything you all have tried, restarting game, console, fast travel...etc. None of it worked. So I decided to do some side quests and return...still nothing. I then decided to proceed with the main storyline and head to the shattered moon. I progressed all the way up to the top and eventually made it into a room that had a work bench. When you interact with the work bench you will see a cutscene. After the cutscene Cal will ask BD-1 what he found...the answer...a grapple launcher modification allowing you to now grapple to the balloons. I hope this helps.

TLDR: Proceed through the main storyline and make you way all the way up to the top of the Shattered Moon...you will eventually get the grapple launcher modification to hook to the balloons.

I am having this exact same issue right now. This bug needs to be fixed NOW

After my first entry on here, I started the game again, thinking that it might have been a bad save. Got back to the same point last night (67% complete), and exactly the same thing happened again. I came on here again, ostensibly to have a good rant, and saw @Jotun2284 ‘s comment and followed his advice and it worked. I now have the ability and was able to finish the mission on the Shattered Moon, and continue the game. Thanks! 

Summit ridge floating grapple is apart of the main quest line, it allows you to access the second array.

Awesome!! Glad it worked!

That's not where you learn the ability. When you reach the point where you interact with the console and the balloons pop up on the shattered moon while pursuing Rayvis there is a broken window down and to the left. You go through there solve some puzzles and eventually you'll fine a work bench in a small circular room. Interact with it and that's when you learn the balloon grapple. You can then go back up and use it to get to him. 

The exact same thing is happening to me, BD1 starts flipping out wanting to scan something but the scan button never appears on the screen this is something that is majorly needed on every map of the game and it needs to get fixed soon! I can’t progress in my story or exploring

Hey, I had seen your post before and was worried when I got to Shattered Moon because you clearly need that ability. In progressing through the level, there was a point when the ability was activated.  I think this takes into account the possibility that you may not have been to Summit Ridge yet if mostly just pursuing the main game quest. I'm on a PC, which seems to be where most issues occur. Maybe try heading to the Shattered Moon and see if it activates for you there.

Same thing happening to me.. don’t know how to fix it.

I can’t open bd-1 menu in Koboh Observatory, so cannot progress further as his ability is needed (electo dart)

update: I quit-closed the game, restarted, and the ability came back. I was then able to resume past where I was stuck

I Cannot open the BD-1 menu starting at nearly the end of Imperial Post 8L-055.  Tried restarting but still does not work.  I also tried going back to other missions, ability won't activate.  it's on an Xbox series X  

Yes, I got past it. It’s not a bug, as such, just a dodgy bit of editing. @Jotun2284 supplied the answer. Forget it for now, go and do the shattered moon mission. Do the mission until you reach the point where the balloon anchor points appear and Call asks “What’s that?”, then turn to your left and look down, you will see an entry to a lab, go there, complete the puzzle and follow the path, and you will get to the place where you get the grappling upgrade. You’re looking for a work bench, which you’ll find after a cut scene.
