Sudden performance degredation

I was playing on high settings , 1440p with nvidia Dlss performance I7 8700, 3700rtx 16gb ram. I'm 33 hours into the game loaded it up Monday evening and suddenly I'm stuck in some horror 10fps slideshow.

I've dropped all graphics settings to low, lowered my resolution to 1080 and tried with dlss on and off and still unplayable.

The only change I made to the pc was install SWTOR and update the graphics drivers. So I tried reinstalling older graphics drivers (Jan and last June) and still no improvement.

Anyone any idea how to fix this? looks like EA offer no formal support for their games anymore?

  • So I've resolved the issue, but i'm not convinced that what i knowingly did was what fixed it.

I deleted the Gamesettings.ini file amid changing all kinds of settings and now i seem to have decent performance back. Can't seem how that would work seeing as I deleted and reinstalled the whole game unless that file wasn't removed?

Thought I'd mention it anyway just in case it helps someone.

  • Thanks for posting the DXDIAG straight away. It helps.

If you look at the last section of the DXDIAG report (Diagnostics), you will see multiple processes having issues. One of them is QmlRenderer. I saw a post elsewhere from someone saying the exact same thing as you with a different game. Apparently, QmlRenderer (iCUE) was the culprit. So, I suggest you look at the items in the Diagnostics section, as this very well may lead you to your solution.

FYI - EA does still offer direct support. See this. Certain support is available based on time of day and region.

  • Thanks for the tip, unfortunately doesn't help. Tried killing all non essential processes and then a clean boot but the same issue remains. Seems to be an issue with loading textures (uneducated guess) as I can get respectable frame rates, although not as good as before, but when I turn the view it drops to sub 10 fps.
