Is this intended? I'm currently on a preferred account, and the pink/magenta crystals I unlocked in collections are no longer authorized because I don't have artifact equipment authorization. Prior to 4.0, it was perfectly fine for Preferred players to use Cartel Market color crystals.
I am a preferred status player, I've several different black-green color crystals, purple quality, all of them obtained from the vendors in the Rakghoul caves during the Rakghoul plague event. Now all of a sudden I need artifact authorization for them and the weapons on which these crystals are installed apparently don't work.
Well this would be less of an issue if preferred players had SOME way to contact Bioware. We get no message board, no tech support, no in-game tickets, they've even closed the off-topic board on the Bioware forum, and they don't even let us report bugs! It's like we don't even exist! And on the extremely rare occasion that someone on the official forum speaks for us, they're quickly dismissed and ridiculed by elitist subs.
EA_David said earlier in this thread that the issue is being investigated (page 2 of the thread in my browser). Speaking personally, I was gratified by the prompt response.
Patch notes are up; looks like this will be fixed tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!
The patch notes state...
"Cartel Market
Lightsaber crystals purchased from the Cartel Market may now not require AA, However the Blue Barrels and Hilts traded for data crystals from "level" vendors are not Cartel market items. Nothing is stated in reference to those items that "became" AA required with 4.0. I say became because they appear to be the blue barrels and hilts we used to get from the Mod vendors just now with Mastery instead of [Stat]. We could install these before 4.0 easily, now we need Artifact Authorization to do so.
Some things seem will be fixed, a good thing indeed, others may not be (going by the Patch notes). At least some problems solved. A positive result in part.
(I can hope that Bioware's Patch notes this time are incomplete.)

Despite the title of this topic, I hope tech support reviews the posts in enough detail to realize that the issue is NOT isolated to crystals, as shown in my previous post with screen shots. To me it would appear ANYTHING blue/purple might be affected. Several folks, including myself, have various items we can't use anymore - such as earpieces and implants, all the way up to mods and armor, hilts etc.
Let's hope this new patch does it, cuz i havne't played since this happened. Don't think id' come back either frankly.
