Just to confirm a repair has been run ?
Non-Streaming launcher - Log into the launcher but don't click Play. Check for small letters "ST" in the bottom left corner.If this is NOT present, With the new launcher after login , select the username pulldown on the top right and select settings, then press repair.
Streaming launcher - If the letters "ST" is present, close the launcher, right mouse click on the game shortcut,select open file location and delete the BitRaider folder. Then start the launcher - Anonymous11 years ago
@proxos666@CipherChain@Lereux
I have run the repair function and it did not resolve the crackling audio. The other person I met in game who has the audio problem says that her problem is also still persisting. - proxos66611 years agoHero+
I can flag this with EA here for taking a look
Have you tried things like a reinstall of the sound drivers , adjusting the sound quality etc see if anything has an affect on this ?
- Anonymous11 years ago
@proxos666
Yes, I have done a complete reinstall of the sound drivers and I have played around with sound quality (studio, dvd, diff hz, ...). It did not change anything. - proxos66611 years agoHero+
I have flagged this thread for further investigation
- 11 years agoAt this point I have updated both audio and video drivers, uninstalled audio drivers and reinstalled them, run the repair tool twice for the game, done a complete reinstall, changed the acceleration of the sound, changed the priority for resources towards the game, all suggestions that were made back on the old customer service forums, and none of them have helped.
And I'm almost certain that the issue is not in the sound, but the crackling is a byproduct of something else. Remember it coincides with a drop in Frame rate as shown in the videos I put up earlier, and the issue is exclusive to SWTOR - Anonymous11 years ago
Still not resolved for me.. how about you, @CipherChain?
- proxos66611 years agoHero+
Haven't forgotten this thread either , been looking for other reports (none yet) to see if indication of commonality or cause
- 11 years agoSeeing as these forums are relatively new for SWTOR you should look at the old Swtor support forums. There are plenty of topics about the issue, not one of them that I found had resolved. When I get a chance I will compile a list of threads
- 11 years ago
@proxos666,Here is a list of threads I have found talking about the Issue, I've limited my selection to the problems that sound the closest to the ones described here, and there are still ALOT of other threads to go through. This is not a small issue.
Stuttering and intermittent soundHeavy Stuttering/Jittery Gameplay!
Static, stuttering sound and lag spikes
Sound and Graphic Stutter, But Only When Playing for Awhile
Really bad sound stutter. Extreme slowdown and buzzing in speakers after 30mins.
Static/crackling sounds in-game

@Grashnazraz@proxos666 Bump again to bring back up to the top. Still No Fix.

Started an imperial agent. Still having crackling audio and stuttering video.

@Grashnazraz@proxos666Bumping this again after a while. Figured someone has had some time to look into things at this point. This issue is too prevalent for me now, it happens everywhere in game , its making it very difficult to enjoy. And because of that, i am playing less and less and even thinking about pulling my sub until I can find a fix, though I would really not want to.

So that post suggests cleaning out your rig, which I did shortly before this problem came up and shortly after.

Started to play this week and just today the crackling bug has happenend. It's rather annoying and I don't understand why it wasn't repaired already. Since I was searching for solution I've discovered that this issue is quite old and common. Now I'm not sure if subscribing was good idea.

I started playing the game three days ago and was really pleased with the experience so far and even considered subscribing. The issue occurred today and I've spent the last few hours trying out most of the fixes for it found online, sadly without luck. It turns out that the issue is quite old, like someone above me mentioned, but there is still not a known fix. I'm playing from old Lenovo G580 Laptop on medium-low settings and max resolution. I didn't have any FPS or sound issues until today and I haven't changed any of the in-game preferences.

I stopped playing the game and cancelled my sub about two years back when this bug hit me and saw no repairs in sight.
I figured with the release of the new expansion they'd have fixed it and maybe patched out the issue.
Booted up the game today and surprise the bug is back and worse than ever.
I've tried everything suggested in this posting [and most of the older ones] and even pulled out a different laptop to try and run the game [to no avail as the bug reared it's head on that one as well]
Glad to see that after nearly five years of this bug being reported there has yet to be a fix. LINK
Also supplying the DxDiag on the system I played this on the most.

Getting rid of the Bitraider and then unfortunatelly redownloading huge amount of files solved the problem for me.
- Anonymous10 years ago
There was a recent update/server maintenance which kinda resolved the issue for me... Well, at least it doesn't occur on every world I travel to like it used to, but it's unbearable on few like Tatooine and Nar Shaddaa especially.
