Game keeps getting stuck on loading screen

I changed the resolution in the files and made sure it matched my computer resolution and booted up the game and its still either getting stuck on the loading screen or will load in while still on the loading screen and then i press Alt + Enter which just makes the screen go black but still lets me hear and play everything going on in the game. I also changed the resolution settings in the character menu and I thought that would help but it didnt. im not sure what else to do.
