Inactive Guild Leader

So, according to the swtor help bot, I have to wait 4 weeks for my guild to be re-transferred back over to my legacy as I left the guild on the creator to help a friends guild. I lost my sub and the leadership went over to some inactive randomer. There's also another character of the same rank as my legacy character I left in the guild hoping that the leadership would be re-transferred back over. So there's the possibility of me waiting 8 weeks if the leadership does not get transferred back over to my character. That is completely and utterly ridiculous.

But, my question is if I put the Creator character back in the guild by asking a friendly stranger to help will the guild leadership get transferred back over? Or do I have to still wait 4 weeks? If so then that is one of the most infuriating things ever, the only reason I even got back into swtor is to get my guild back up and running and now I can't even do that.

No, putting the character who founded the guild back in won't help. You have two choices: Either wait until the current guild leader has not logged in for 30 days (AFAIK it's this and not 4 weeks), or subscribe, then you will automatically take the guild from an unsubscribed guild leader (unless the current guild leader is also subscribed).

Going forward, the best way to prevent this is to login regularily and never unsubscribe. Also, if you have a few trustworthy players in the guild make sure they have an officer rang that's above the other members. Then in case you lose the guild leadership, it will transfer to an officer and not a member. Or you just remove everyone who you don't want to become guild leader.

Guild leadership will drop after 30 days of inactivity as your are aware, it is an automatic system, it is one of the biggest things a guild leader needs to be aware of.

There is no way around this system that I am aware of, guild leaders need to be mindful of the details listed at this link

    Spoiler
    Inactive guild leaders

If your Guild Leader has not logged in to Star Wars: The Old Republic on their Guild Leader character for an extended period of time (4 weeks or more), the system will automatically remove them as Guild Leader and pass their leadership on to the highest ranking member who is a subscriber and has logged in within four weeks. If there were no active subscribers in the guild over the last four weeks, the highest ranking Preferred or Free-to-Play member who logged in within four weeks is promoted.

If the member who is promoted to Guild Leader does not wish to act as leader, they can pass leadership on to another officer using the /gabdicate command.

  • Thank you for the swift reply guys.

That is very sad news that has made me very very annoyed. This is one of the most messed up systems I've heard of regarding guild inactivity in a mmorpg. EA must be cutting down on bioware staff and trying to make everything automated or something. I was really looking forward to getting back into swtor but this has put me right off. I even subscribed just to get my guild back, knowing that was now a waste of money and time has just infuriated me even more.

What's so hard about simply getting someone to switch over guild ownership back to the creator's account after they gain their subscription back.

SWTOR is not the only game that does, or did this. Back when I played WoW, they only removed an inactive guildmaster only after 90 days of inactivity, and I watched a guild that had been around since launch disintegrate because of a guild leader that would not pass leadership, and logged onto his guild leader character often enough to prevent automatic handover. I prefer SWTOR's setup, 4 weeks or even 30 days is much more reasonable.

  • Could be worse, could be without internet for 30 days and lose 4billion in credits from stuff going into mail from player market oh ya. I stopped spending money and supporting Lucas arts after that ... and ea..... and disney hell FK ALL THE 'AAA' gaming industry
